Davenport Skatepark — Attraction in Davenport

My official 2024 Davenport skate park review. Terrible environment to bring children. Overran by homeless people sleeping on and around the seating and bathroom areas. The locals who are actually riding are cool and inviting but most of the people at this park on foot are sketchy. You will get plenty of “let me do a trick” or “can I ride that really quick”. Good amount of unmarked wear on the ground and obstacles that could definitely get someone hurt who hasn’t rode the park before. They haven’t turned the lights on in the park at night in god knows how long. The park is designed nicely and favors bmx riders especially, however, this park needs some serious maintenance and lots of attention in other areas too. I shouldn’t have to be looking over my shoulder every second I mean i can’t even focus on my tricks lol. The community...

It used to be full of kids and families. But for a million dollarskatepark there's no security,no helmetrequirement no admission fee no concession, a dangerous highway to cross to get to the onlygas station with food and boasts tons of homeless out front. .the lights used to be on all night. Oh and no bike shop or repair parts or anything at all to support a million dollar skatepark. Davenport dropped the ball on letting this go to he** and for good reason with no safety or first aid on staff full-time. No volunteers NADA nothing!! At all leaving participants at high risk of injury and in an unsafe environment terrible. Has the missing safety railing been replaced by the river / playground where kids play? The entire area needs to be way better populated and managed with safety and appropriate...

It's pretty sad when you take your kids to this park expecting to have a nice day of fun and you have adults and teens buying and selling drugs/weed in plain site with no fear of being caught. They even deal in plain view of young children. What is this world coming to? I did not have a phone with me at the time or I would have called the police. Probably would not do much good because I never see a cop anywhere in Davenport. They have become so reliant on traffic cameras that I guess they don't think they should actually patrol the city anymore. Mailing traffic tickets must be more profitable.
