I would like to start this review by saying I’m cognizant of the current times and I’m always trying to help businesses especially small family owned ones. Tonight I have to write my first bad review in the quad city area. I was recommended to go Carrillo bu multiple people and online sources for authentic Mexican food. Upon entering and barely finding the place I thought I was in for a treat(Mexican market and food store combined) I was greeted to almost tripping over a empty 12 pack case of Coca Cola and then made my way to the back to grab my food. As I arrived at the counter I noticed my bag was ready. I knew two things right away. The guac was not fresh and the creamy out a jar kind as it sat idly next to my bag. Then the lettuce that appears to have fallen on the floor from cooking and no one caring to pick it up. Strikes one and two to both those things, I took it all in stride paid even tipped and extra 5 bucks to be generous in these times. Upon returning home after what I had already witnessed I inspected all tacos (pastor, Asada and chicken) the only thing without fat or gristle was chicken. I took bites of the asada and pastor. I believe both were not actual beef or pork but something else- someone else has left a review stating the same and I believe this is the case as well. The chicken was seasoned ok with not much flavor.

In these times I don’t wish to write bad reviews or tear down businesses but due to the uncleanly environment and suspects meats this review had to be written. Please advise before eating here and do some research on other places possibly in moline or near here and find a...

The bad reviews are obviously lies that were either overly exaggerated or bad reviews from competitors. I’ve been going here for 2 years now. I started going here for lunches while working and then loved it so much I started bringing the kids. And quite a few times a month. Never once have I ever had a bad experience. The food is always fresh, never burned, flavorful, staff is ALWAYS kind and courteous. The serving portions are generous. This restaurant knows how to feed someone. It’s disappointing to see some of the bad reviews on here. Because honestly this restaurant is a great part of the community around here and is run by a great family. The positive reviews far out way any of the negative ones. Another plus, the grocery area also offers a nice selection of things. The kids always enjoy picking something out when we go there as a little snack to take home. Thank you guys for all your hard work and serving the people around this community...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Abarrotes Carrillo , a fantastic Mexican restaurant that truly exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with vibrant colors and friendly staff making me feel right at home from the moment I walked in.

Now, let's talk about the star of the show: the Bistec Rojo. This dish was nothing short of extraordinary! The steak was perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection, while the red sauce it was served with was rich, savory, and packed with just the right amount of spice. The flavors were bold, yet balanced, and it paired beautifully with the side of rice and beans. Every bite felt like a little taste of Mexico itself.

If you're looking for an authentic Mexican meal that satisfies both your appetite and your taste buds, Abarrotes Carillo is the place to go. I can't wait to return and try more of their delicious offerings!...

Vastly OVERRATED. Large portions but average quality AT BEST. I had an Azada (Steak) taco with Queso Fresco Cheese, a Adobada (Marinated Steak) taco with Queso Fresco Cheese and a Molida (Ground Beef) quesadilla. Though I paid extra for Queso Fresco Cheese on both my tacos, I received NONE and Uber Eats refunded LESS than I paid for the cheese. I AM UTTERLY SICK OF THIS SCAM! Of the three meats, I preferred the Adobada. The quesadilla had very little cheese and the ground beef had an odd flavor, not AT ALL what I expect from Mexican ground beef. A friend had a steak burrito, which she liked but found it to have too much lettuce and onion. Another friend had steak Huarache and an order of Rice and Beans. He liked the Huarache, but found it very soupy to eat. He found the Rice and Beans only average. There are NUMEROUS superior Mexican restaurants in the Quad Cities!

We stopped for lunch here one Sunday. Even with a lot of people in the restaurant the service was quick. The waitress forgot our waters and a part of our order but this was quickly fixed so A+ recovery. The food itself was full of flavor and very well priced. They had several sauce options, 2 of which seemed to be made in the kitchen and were absolutely delicious. I couldn’t get enough of them. Then afterwards we went next door to the grocery store for some snacks straight from Mexico. Overall a great experience.

I've read the rave reviews. Heard so much talk about how fuego it is. But no. It is sooooooo completely bland. Every protein (ground beef, steak, shredded chicken, pork) in our order was flavorless. The red salsa was the ONLY saving grace. The green salsa is lethally spicy and obliterates any ability to taste. This place doesn't live up to the hype, and it's too time consuming to find a space to park and go in during dinner hours. Congrats to them on the re-opening, but I was thoroughly unimpressed.
