A little-known service that Explorit provides is their birthday parties: if your kid is that kid--you know, the one with a bug collection, a bunch of magnifying glasses, a book full of dinosaurs, and a penchant for paper airplanes--then this is the place. We recently held our daughter's fifth birthday here, and it was the smoothest kid party we've ever experienced. Two staff members set up activity stations (we did the dinosaur theme) with actual and replica fossils, dinosaur masks, plaster-of-paris "fossil" casting, and more. Every kid found something to do, and they had a fifteen minute sit down where they got to touch gigantic Madagascar cockroaches and see the bearded dragon, and then the kids got to go roam the actual museum and do the regular hands-on experiments.
