Nestled in the heart of Davis, California, Dah Bao is a hidden gem that promises an extraordinary dining experience. From the moment you step foot inside, you're greeted with a warm ambiance and a delightful aroma that piques your senses. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Dah Bao, and I must say, it left an indelible mark on my taste buds.

One of the standout dishes at Dah Bao is their phenomenal beef noodle soup. As a lover of hearty soups, I was blown away by the rich and savory broth that formed the foundation of this dish. The beef was tender and succulent, simmered to perfection, and exuded a deep flavor that instantly won me over. The noodles were perfectly cooked, offering a satisfying chewiness that complemented the broth beautifully. Each spoonful was a culinary delight, and I found myself savoring every bite.

Another must-try dish at Dah Bao is their lotus root balls. These bite-sized wonders are a true testament to the skill and creativity of the chefs. The lotus root balls were crispy on the outside, revealing a delicate and flavorful filling within. The combination of textures and flavors was simply divine. Each bite provided a delightful contrast between the crispy exterior and the soft, melt-in-your-mouth interior. It was a unique and delightful experience that left me craving for more.

No visit to Dah Bao would be complete without sampling their assorted buns. These little parcels of goodness were a sight to behold. From fluffy steamed buns to golden-brown baked buns, the assortment was impressive. Each bun was filled with a delicious and carefully crafted filling, ranging from succulent barbecued pork to savory vegetable mixtures. The buns were bursting with flavors and had the perfect balance of sweetness and savoriness. It was a delightful journey for the palate, and I couldn't resist trying every single variety.

Beyond the extraordinary dishes, Dah Bao also prides itself on its excellent service. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and passionate about their craft. They were more than willing to provide recommendations and answer any questions, ensuring that every diner had a memorable experience.

In conclusion, Dah Bao is a restaurant that truly shines in Davis, CA. With their phenomenal beef noodle soup, delicious lotus root balls, and delightful assortment of buns, this establishment offers a culinary adventure that shouldn't be missed. From the moment you walk through the doors until the last bite, Dah Bao will captivate you with its exceptional flavors, cozy ambiance, and attentive service. Whether you're a local resident or just passing through, make sure to indulge in the flavors of Dah Bao – you won't be...

It's not easy to find authentic Chinese food, let alone northern Chinese food in the Davis area. That is one of the reasons why we were excited to find out that Dah Bao was opening. On our first visit, we ordered a beef noodle soup, pork and veggie buns, and iced tea. We were nothing short of astounded by the flavor, texture and generous portion sizes of both types of buns. The pork buns contained a small amount of pickled mustard greens (or similar) that provided a pleasant crunch to accompany their hearty flavor. The vegetable buns, with their mix of cabbage, mushroom and egg, were just as delicious and almost as filling. The beef noodle soup was deeply flavorful and we even brought home the leftover soup to boil vegetables in. A few days later we made a second visit to buy additional buns and try the Zhajiang noodles. The noodles were cooked just right, with a touch of elasticity or "tan ya", with a hint of sweetness that accompanied the light sauce consisting of ground pork, edamame and tofu. I look forward to this restaurant becoming a regular treat for us, whether we're having an especially busy work day or kicking back to...

Good food, large portions with enough to take home. The drinks are not as flavorful as other places, particularly the Yakult drinks which did not have much Yakult flavor. It was very warm and muggy inside, so it was a little uncomfortable to eat there on a warmer spring evening. We ended not finishing our meal and took it home to finish because my wife and kids were complaining about how hot and muggy they were. Overall a good place to get food, but their drinks are not as good as other Boba/Tea shops in town. Also for the comfort of customers, they should turn on the A/C (might have been broken, but I didn’t ask). We did like their food which was flavorful and would go back for their other food dishes, but may get our tea...

Not a bad price for takeout. Through Fantuan $15 for a huge portion of noodles and $12 for 5 buns. That's nice because it is a ways away. The bun dough was not spongy and instead nicely bouncy and soft. Veggie had a lot of egg and the juices of the pork didn't mush up the wrapper. Noodles were very very large (the container is quite deep) but it was quite sweet. I did come with a lot of minced rendered pork and edamame giving it good variety in texture. Because it was so heavy and oily I added spinach and tofu to make it a bit lighter and to balance the sweetness and it was much better. Not too sure if I'd come back, but I could see myself thinking about this place when I want buns.

This was the first we visited this restaurant. Actually, it's more like pickup or delivery where there were limited tables to sit at and our food was packed to go. We chose to sit. So we ordered Chicken and Tofu with Cold Boiled Egg over Rice, Beef Noodle Soup, and Braised Pork Belly and Chinese Sausage over Rice. The food was excellent, meat was tendered and well cooked! Especially the chicken. With the chicken dish, I would love to have some veggies. There were none. I would come back for a pick up or delivery but not to dine in.
