News-Journal Center at Daytona State College — Attraction in Daytona Beach

We visited this venue specifically to view an art exhibit in the "lobby".. we felt awkward arriving when there wasn't an actual event,and, in fact, the staff was kinda like "um... hi???" When we said we were simply here to view artwork, they were welcoming and friendly . The security guy directed us where to view the art, the office lady came out and chatted us up and welcomed my grandson (10 months) with smiles. The maintance guys were hanging In the lobby chatting about thier work The place is beautifully maintained ,grass and landscape nicely maintained, windows (lots and lots of windows) overlooking the water were spotless..very clean and well managed venue. The News-Journal Center is an outstanding venue. The annual (free) Christmas concert brought to you by the faculty and students at Daytona State College is truly a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. I make it my personal annual holiday season kickoff. It also serves as a wonderful introduction to DSC's cultural offerings in theater and the arts, many of which are held at the Center. Very beautiful venue but the parking is awful. The lot is locked up by seven and even for handicapped parking I had to park west of Beach Street about a block away. Thank goodness I was able to drop off my mother and husband at front of building to go seek out parking. Getting from from of building to the third floor balcony seating was a real challenge and took my Mom about 15 minutes to get inside and...
