I have been looking for a used Polaris Slingshot online for nearly three months. Each time I thought I had found the bike I wanted, I found that the listing dealership had âjust sold itâ or that the bike âhas not been received yetâ (basically listed to get you in the door). I began to distrust anything listed on the internet and started driving/calling around. Skipping detailed mention of 5 other disappointing experiences in Orlando/Sanford; I finally called Indian of Daytona.
I initially spoke to Mike Watts in Internet Sales, who was not only pleasant to speak to, but also very helpful and informative. He confirmed that the bike I had previously viewed on their site was in fact there, along with three others; one of which was recently taken in and not yet online. Mike snapped a picture and sent it to me as reference. I had no intention to drive to Daytona, but felt compelled to do so based upon the experience encounter during this 1-2 minute phone call alone.
Upon Arrival, I met with Brian Charlton in sales and resident expert on Slingshots, so I am told. I felt comfortable with Brian nearly immediately, and felt like he was an easy going, no pressure kind of guy! Brian showed me the two bikes I was interested in; one a 2015 in a color I could live with, and the other a 2017 in my color of choice (Black). Brian had already negotiated an out-the-door price for me prior to my arrival, but I still had some internal conflicts. Do I buy the bike close to what I want for a cheaper price, or do I pay a bit more for the bike âI wantâ! I asked for a revised OTD price on both bikes, with hopes that the one I wanted might come down a bit more to bridge the gap.
Sales Manager, Mike LeFiles then came to me in a very sincere manner. He stated that he would rather work to get me into the bike I wanted at a price I was comfortable with, than see me buy another bike due to price alone. OK, sure, I thought this was somewhat of a gimmick at first, but I was thoroughly impressed when he returned with a very fair price offering, along with next day delivery to Orlando. This made for a quick decision on my part and I agreed to purchase the bike I really wanted all along.
I can certainly see how this dealership succeeds, itâs the people that work here! They love what they do and have a sincere âfamilyâ approach in customer service! The âringing of the bellâ for every sale is also a nice touch. The whole place exploded with cheers, applause, and air horn blasts; as if everyone was just as excited as I was! I will certainly make the trip to Indian of Daytona for any future purchases and refer anyone to...
Read moreI visited during Bike Week and was impressed with their setup and demo options. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the entire purchasing process went smoothly. I hadnât even planned on buying anything, yet I left with a 2022 Harley-Davidsonâand even put money down, which I never do!
Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. As I rode out of the showroom, I stopped, and the handlebarsâwhich werenât properly tightenedâslammed forward, causing me to fracture my wrist. That alone was alarming, but on my ride home, I started noticing multiple issues with the bike. The most serious problem was that it would randomly slow down and then completely lock up.
Since they had a "10-mile" return policy, I called as soon as I got homeâat around 8 milesâand brought the bike back the next day, expecting to return it. Thatâs when I learned I wasnât actually allowed to return it. Instead, the service department quickly addressed the issues and sent me on my way. When I asked how such a dangerous oversight happened, I was told that the technician who inspected the bike was new and weighed â100 lbs soaking wet,â which is why he didnât notice the loose handlebars. For my trouble, I was given a $100 gift card for parts.
Since returning the bike wasnât an option, I took it home. After being away for a trip, I was excited to finally get back on it. My daughter and I went for a ride, but the same terrifying issue happened againâsudden deceleration, violent shaking, and locking up.
I repeatedly tried reaching Indianâs sales department and tax/tag office through their web portal and by phone, but their voicemails were full. Frustrated and concerned, I finally went in person and explained that I could no longer keep the bike because it simply wasnât safe. I ended up trading it in for a used Scout Bobber, which has been great so far.
However, I still feel a lot more should have been done. I lost a significant down payment on a motorcycle that was unsafe from the start. I also wasnât fully informed about their strict return policyâspecifically, that it was not just 10 miles but also 10 minutesâuntil I traded the bike in. Most importantly, the fact that I fractured my wrist just 15 feet from their door due to a missed quality control check is deeply concerning.
This entire experience was disappointing, and while Iâm happy with my new bike, I canât ignore the serious safety oversights and lack of...
Read moreI bought a tour package for my motorcycle in October 2025 the gentleman as well as his manager assured me I would have my product in 6 to 8 weeks. 6 to 8 weeks has passed. I called them several times. I spoke with a young lady That was very helpful to try to find out what was going on and she reassured me that I would have my Tour package by the end of February After finding out information from Polaris, still not acceptable⌠Due to the fact I missed several runs with my wife, not having it. Now February is here the middle of February , Trey (NEW GUY) from the parts department, Call me about the same tour package apologizing to me, etc. he was going to find out where the package was at, he was going to get back with me. He calls me two weeks later and says they wonât be able to get the package Because they absolutely donât have the package so you can have your money back or continue to wait. STUPID That conversation ended, he went to speak with his manager. His manager called me very non-caring of the situation. I gave them 3 thousand plus dollars they took my money knowing that they did not or was not going to ever have the part they had the money for five months and then decided to call me to tell me that the part is never going to be available That parts manager hung up the phone on me (He should be fired) as I was asking him for his general managerâs name and phone number. If I were you, I would think twice about ordering anything through Daytona Indian. They will take your money knowing The part may not get there or they may not ever have the part! I wouldâve given them a zero they donât deserve a one ! They steal money and act as if itâs OK yes they are refunding me my money after they have collected interest on the 3 thousand plus dollars that they STOLE (under deception of product) from me in the beginning they shouldâve never took in my money and they knew the product was not available! Oh, and donât let me forget I told Trey(as we spoke on the first conversation) that I Would have thought about putting $4500 on a brand new bike ⌠and then you get his idiot manager to call me back with his attitude and not a care in the world for my business! Iâm sure happy Their true colors came out. They wonât get a dime of business and I will let everyone know to go to Palm Bay. Indian Daytona Indian sucks with ...
