It's a trap.. Jk. Beautiful mall. Buyer beware. Prices are gouged. (not all places are doing this but be wise). Just yesterday I decided I'd get my usual 511 levis from JC Penney. At southland mall (15 min south) I paid 34 after tax and a sale. Here they had a display half off and once I showed up to pay it was full price 68, I mentioned to them I found them on the half off rack. Then I noticed stickers placed over the official Levi's® price! For just an extra 2 bucks?
The entire mall is surrounded by hotels 5 stars and doubletrees style hotels. Of course it's not in Detroit but it's nice to be close. So my 30 years living by the airport here is my advice if you're traveling and want to visit Detroit (which is on the rise like ive never would believe I'd see). Search southland mall in Taylor MI. And find a hotel near there. As of now 75 north to Detroit is open. The ride back is a bit longer but it's simply 94 east to Pelham Rd (which turns into Allen Rd.) or Telegraph (depending on which hotel your at). To avoid traffic it's your typical rush hours you want to avoid going downtown till 9 at the earliest and get back by 3 at the latest. Or you'll be in 2 hours of the chaos 75 south construction has caused us.
Not traveling? Then take a gamble and bring a charged phone to take pictures to price check. I'm in it. They have blockers that force your to use the wifi. Price checking isn't easy. I used to work at the Henry and Edward hotels. There are folks who don't mind the cost that is their targets. Already staying there, Walmart is near. I know, but you're not getting price hacked and it's not the best Walmart.
Again Taylor & Southgate have the malls, a Walmart right at Telegraph and 94 (excellent, but stupid busy) the best Walmart Southgate Dix and Eureka. Both are between and pass Southland Mall. That mall.... 4 stars. Simple urban and honest prices.
Anything north or west, very nice! But again, prices are amped up.
Good luck, welcome to Detroit. It's becoming safer, but don't let your guard down. Idiots who don't realize we're all on cameras are stuck in the 90's. That's fading fast.
Im 40 and spent 10 years in Nashville. Came back and am proud to say I'm from here. The best late spring thru November times. The other months. I wish I were back in Music City! Lol
Fweeew, hope it helped someone... BTW. I designed and built the Edward Hotels new business center. The hotel... Sorry it's not the Henry nor a Holiday Inn. The owner must invest to reach the goal. Mr Wong pleasure working for you, hope you do get a true 4 or 5 star place. It...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I live 3 hours away from Fairlane mall. We came December 16th, 2016 to come Christmas shopping. When we came into the mall there was a incident with an individual downstairs. So I personally took out my phone and recorded the incident as it was happening. As we were walking away I realized I wasn't even recording, I took a picture instead. We were immediately stopped by a security guard Mr. Barbers and he has told us to move along and delete our photo. We walked on and I deleted it from my phone immediately. He continued to follow us and then stopped us before we even started shopping and told us to leave. We asked why and they said it is against mall policy to take or record photo/videos. My boyfriend and I had no knowledge of this rule. Then proceeded to tell us is outside every store before you come on EXCEPT Macy's, cause they do not own Macy's. Well go figure that is where my boyfriend and I parked. We were clearly upset cause we just drove two hours to come shopping, and the picture was already deleted. We had asked for a copy of the policy and security officer Mr. barbers and colleague proceeded to give us a supervision policy (protaining to child 18 years and younger) Mind you my boyfriend and I are over 21 years of age, with clearly no small children with us. We decided to wait for a manager to come and speak with us. Apparently the higher up manager leaves around 5pm so we got someone else. Not even dressed in any type of manger attire. Just in a Michigan pullover, he proceeded to argue viciously to my boyfriend. And at the end; the manager came to his own conclusion. That we were they for me (a female) so I could stay and he could leave. The manager had no idea what the situation was. And told my boyfriend to leave. This incident started because I took a photo with my phone and deleted it after. I proceeded to argue with the manager telling him, I take full responsibility that I took a photo, but that I deleted it and they could have every right to look on my phone to make sure I wasn't lying. And after that they told us both to leave. At that point I didn't care what was said because that is complete bullshit. This was my boyfriends first time coming to Fairlane mall and my second. I thought this was a nice mall but the management and the people who run it are just not worth it. I have never felt so belittled in my entire life and the security guards are just down right idiots. Basically like Paul Blarts but with more attitudes. Horrible service and horrible people! NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN. I DO NOT RECOMMEND...
Read moreWorst place ever. Dont even go to the movie theater there unless you want to get sick. There isn't any proper food handling or cleaning at this place at all. Felt like I should be in a hazmat suit at this movie theater. Do they let homeless people sleep in this place at night or what??? DISGUSTING!!! IF YOU DONT BELIEVE ME LOOK AT THE PIC. 🤮🤮🤢🤢🤮🤮And that is just one seat the whole IMAX theater was this gross from floor to ceiling. Hopefully you pick the right seats cause almost all of the had issues of some sort. You are almost better sitting on the floor that a seat one for cleanliness the other operationally. 🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮This is the most disturbing and disgusting place I have ever been in my life to see a movie. And there is no such thing as a IMAX theater here. I have been at dollar theaters way cleaner than this place. Even the popcorn had debris in it and it came out the counter and was stale and salty. Tasted and looked like reused popcorn. Was the worst experience ever. Will never ever visit this garbage dump, which a garbage dump is prob better kept up in relation to this septic hole, with my family ever again unless I want to come out with Hepatitis or salmonella or Death ... And the lack and dont care attitude of the staff.. we wont even get into that one besides they all should be fired and replaced with people who wanna work asz nd have work ethics as well as pride about their work. I called AMC corporation and they didnt even care that one of their movie theaters looked like that and the prices they charge..... MJR here I come. Should have just went there in the 1st place where its clean comfy, safe from diseases, and the staff is awesome. SHAME ON FAIRLANE MANAGEMENT FOR EVEN LETTING THIS PLZCE INTO THEIR...
