Extended stay America hotel, Dearborn Michigan, Town center Dr. This has to be the worse hotel we have ever stayed in! My husband and I traveled to Dearborn, celebrating our wedding anniversary. On our agenda were the Henery Ford attractions.lookng for something close at a reasonable price, $130.00 per night.
We booked our hotel stay from the website, we needed to change our dates of arrival and departure. We called reservations on line and were nicely accommodated. We wanted a king suite/ with kitchen accomidations, the woman offered us a senior AARP discount, as well as an extra fee of ten dollars a day for special cleaning of the kitchen/ and all other areas.
When we arrived; around eight pm. first impressions speak very loudly! The Foyer and desk area were small and untidy. The desk was dirty and full of hand smears! The floor tiles were missing most of the tile grout, as well as broken tiles. The rug that covered the tile floor was in need of vacuuming! The elevator floor was full of litter! There wasn't a suitcase rack anywhere to be found. We had to make several trips to the car for our things! We asked if indeed the kitchen was stocked with all the items needed! The clerk looked stunned! His reply, did you want a pan now? I said " what isn't it an already stocked kitchen?" The clerks reply no what do you think you need? He then gave us a bin full of the necesities. Something extra for us to carry up to the fourth floor!
Upon entering our room, we were sorely disappointed! The kitchen was old and dirty! The room it's self was No Suite! Poorly decorated, old dated lighting, mirror hung in back of theTV. Closet covered with a curtain. Small bathroom. The carpet had visible stains! Pulling back the bedding revealed a very dirty and stained mattress pad, with viable crumbs or whatever it was? I was concerned about bed bugs! We called the desk and asked for clean bedding! The mattress pad was zippered and zip tied, which led me to believe that it had never been removed for cleaning!
The next morning my husband put on clean white socks that were completely filthy, by the time we got ready to leave for the day! We told the assistant manager of the cleaning concerns, she assured us that she would have housekeeping clean the carpet while we were out! Apon our arrival back to our room, we found that the usual house keeping had been done, except for the kitchenette! Nothing was cleaned, including the dishes. Per our phone reservations; we paid an extra ten dollars a day for this "cleaning service!" The desk clerk once again seemed clueless and told us we had to do our own cleaning of dishes and kitchen! With out any supplies to do this, we were perplexed! Not even a sink stopper, or dish soap! We went out and bought the necessary items, drain stopper, cleanser, scrubbies,(as no dish rag was provided) and dish soap! I appoligize for the long review; as I have never before been so frustrated with hotel accomidations!
This was clearly not a pleasant experience! Can't even give one star! While in Dearborn Michigan stay clear...
Read moreA friend of mine and I came up for work. We stayed from Tuesday the 23rd of June to the following Friday, June 26th. On the first night, there was stomping and noise on the floor above us (4th floor) off and on until 5 AM, then consistently at 9 AM. Figured it was nothing and if it continues, I’ll call. Please keep in mind that we work nights, which I’m aware they’re not in control of, but still. Adds to the frustration of the whole thing. Second night, same thing. I went down to the front desk at 1 AM to inform them of the noise and they said “we’ll give them a call.” The noise continued all night. I call the front desk at 9 AM to inform them yet again that there is LOTS of noise coming from the floor above us. Before I continue, let me explain that I don’t care to complain much. “It is what it is” is normally my frame of mind and “life goes on.” I’d like to add that while there was no screaming or glass breaking or anything else of that nature, sounds like that of a stampede ALL NIGHT, ALL WEEK is a bit much. Just a bit. The lady at the front desk said “I will call them and let them know” to which I thought “how well is that gonna work if that’s what was supposed to happen last time?” Two hours pass, there’s still noise and stomping. Clearly, no calls were made. I call the front desk for the third and final time. Her response? “Ma’am, they have kids and they’ve been here for a year and the is only the second complaint they’ve ever gotten.” Okay? And? The FIRST noise complaint should be enough. “They have kids” is the LAMEST excuse not to do your job. Ask them to settle their damn kids then? Is that not common sense? We were offered a room exchange, which we ended up not being able to do because we didn’t have time that day and we only had one more night after that so we just sucked it up instead of lugging all of our stuff up to the 4th floor. Note: from here on out, all complaints of noise are entirely on us because we didn’t move rooms. Although, a parent should still control their damn kid. Because of the insistent complaints and the dismissal of what was going on, using excuses such as “they have kids” and “well nobody else has complained” and the complete lack of sleep, I’m leaving only 2 stars (no option to leave 2 and a half because outside of this experience, everything was fine. Refund for one night was promised as well. Place was clean, no bugs, had all the amenities you need, etc.) If you stay here, wouldn’t recommend a 3rd floor room because the loud and rude people live on...
Read moreI suppose there are good points: We didn't get our car broken into. We didn't get bed bugs (don't worry, I use a UV flashlight to check for bed bugs in EVERY hotel). We didn't see any cockroaches. We did get hot water in the shower. Other than that, this place is just plan gross for charging $150 a night. I can't say whether the sheets and towels are clean, because you never actually see those washed, you just have to hope, but the room was billed as a "No smoking, no pet room" and it STUNK of smoke and...something, so bad I got Febreeze at the store and sprayed every fabric: curtains, shower curtain, ironing board cover, carpet, and the fabric on the walls that serve as a headboard. EVERYTHING was dusty. Why can't they clean those horrible screens over the bathroom fan and the air vents? It's not hard. You can SEE the dust and dirt. It's BLOWING all over you, raining from the ceiling when you're just trying to vent steam out if The bathroom. Gross. WHY can't they clean the vent on the AC? My husband gets a sore throat in every cheap hotel. Just CLEAN it! The stove top is old and nasty. Not that we could have ACTUALLY cooked because there are NO dishes, anyway. There is no ice machine, but there were two plastic ice cube trays and one of them was full of holes so it wasn't going to be goo for making ice at all. I thought maybe we could open the window for fresh air, but the window was broken and then sealed shut. Later, we noticed many windows are broken in the same way on the outside. We were told we got breakfast. There WAS coffee and hot water and tea bags, but the only food provided was pre-packaged muffins (Very stale) and some granola bars. I thought maybe that was just skimpy because it was Friday, but Saturday was exactly the same. There isn't even a place to sit down and eat it. The elevator was rickety and scary. Not sure what that surface on the counter top and bath tub is called, but it's rough enough and a weird enough color that it probably hides dirt really well. There was NO mattress pad between the bottom sheet and the VERY stained mattress. We put the brown blanket between the sheet and mattress just in case. The pillows had suspicious stains, too. Waterproof, washable, mattress pads, and pillow protectors should be standard by now. There are many other hotels around this one. We wanted to be close to Henry Ford tourist attractions, so it is, but next time we will choose something else. Pack your disinfectant wipes and Febreeze if...
