Toco Hills LA Fitness member since 2005. Loved this gym when I first started: solid variety of equipment and weights, friendly staff, it was very clean and the gym temperature was effectively regulated with each season.
2015 and 2016 Summers: Toco Hills air conditioning broken. As a temporary fix several large industrial fans were brought in to circulate the air.
OCTOBER 2017: Toco Hills location received a much needed renovation. During this renovation ceiling fans were installed in the aerobics room and the spin room, yet nothing was installed on the main floor of the gym. Members were told that the HVAC systems had been replaced, yet the AC was still not adequately cooling the gym. Operations manager said the new system was not equipped to remove the humidity from the gym - which is the entire purpose of having an AC system. An easy solution for air circulation would have been floor fans, yet management stated they had no intentions of purchasing fans. Decided to explore the Ansley Mall, Decatur and Brookhaven locations. Different locations with the same exact issues.
2018-2022: Took my concerns to corporate management to discuss the deterioration of the Toco Hills location. Spoke to multiple customer service reps to express my dissatisfaction with the daily maintenance and overall service at Toco Hills. Each customer service rep. stated âthey would look into itâ, then no action was ever taken. I was told they would reach out to the local gym manager and would followup with me within a day or so. Not one customer service rep. ever followed through. Not one.
JUNE/JULY 2023 (see attached photos): No improvements have been made as everything in the gym continues to decline. Itâs unfortunate the level of care, concern for safety, condition of equipment doesnât appear to be a priority for LAF. ⢠Overall gym and equipment is filthy ⢠A good portion of the lockers in the mens locker room are completely unusable â doors are hanging off hinges, doors are broken, and hardware is missing so you canât secure your belongings with a lock ⢠Cleaning supplies and paper towels are always empty, or have been removed altogether ⢠Many HVAC vents are covered in black filth ⢠AC still not cooling the gym. Absolutely no air flow on the free weight floor. ⢠Broken equipment is often UNDER SERVICE for months at a time. Butterfly machine, leg machines, etc.. ⢠Equipment grips and seat covers need to be replaced ⢠Where is the cleaning staff? LAF used to have an actual staff that would clean the gym AND the equipment. That has not happened since right after COVID. ⢠Broken tv has yet to be replaced after 7+ months ⢠Sound system is busted in the mens locker room ⢠Busted/broken mirrors took months to replace ⢠Weights are always left on the equipment
Planet Fitness and CRUNCH are expanding in the metro-Atlanta market and local gym goers are raving about their experiences. Both brands offer a superior health and fitness experience that once defined LA Fitness many years ago. People expect the basics at a gym: up-to-date, functioning equipment, a thoroughly clean gym, and a staff dedicated to giving members a positive fitness experience. Thankfully we now have better...
Read moreI will not be returning to this location, and plan to report this incident to LA Fitness company also
I am an ambulatory wheelchair user, meaning I use a wheelchair full time but I can walk a few steps at a time. I am a woman and my partner and caretaker presents as a man. For more than a year now we have been using LA Fitness pools for physical therapy and relaxation, and every time, he has walked me through (sometimes not very accessible) locker rooms to the shower where he leaves me, and then comes back to help me dress for the pool. We always walk on the outside of the lockers, behind the wall so there is a lessened chance that anyone else in there is visible in various states of dress. We absolutely want to respect other's right to change in a space that feels safe, but with no gender neutral option, this is the best we can do.
In over a year of visiting various locations, we have never had an issue, and no one has ever said anything to us about any policies around how to handle this situation. But today, after my partner had left me in the shower, a woman came in yelling throughout the locker room, and finally I realized she was yelling at me. Standing directly behind my empty wheelchair while I am fully nude in the shower with shampoo in my hands, she starts asking me questions about where the man is. I tell her I assume he is in the men's locker room, and then she continues yelling and scolding me about how women were changing in here when he walked me through. I repeatedly ask her if we could talk about it when I wasn't showering. She continued until I told her my partner's name. When we left someone else stopped us at the front desk to tell us we should have asked for their janitor staff to help me through the locker room, and personally, I don't want a random LA Fitness staff member helping me dress myself after a shower. I let them know that we would not be returning and that it was incredibly rude.
Additionally, the locker room at this location was completely inaccessible, and my partner had to move several items out of the way, including a trash can and a scale, just to be able to make it through to...
Read moreThis review is for the LA Fitness off North Druid Hills...I go this place for convenience only, and thinking about going somewhere since I am close to so many other gyms here. I do not look forward to getting my work out done there. I actually work out 5/6 days a week, but I drive 30 min. to get to my other gym. Here it is why I don't like this gym: Small and with not enough machines for the amount of people during pick hours, and machines with out of order signs. Corporation, build up! This is a busy place and you are loosing money!; As a girl, I few that many women would feel intimidated by the crammed-with- men area of the dumbell's, Smith mchine area etc. I always have to push my way to get a place there, and I am a little bold then many women. So I few like many shy away from this gym. Yesterday I was there in the evening, and it is unnerving to see how many people just take up a machine, to be texting. Seriously. People, step away to take care of your texting. Rude. There is something called etiquette at the gym too. There are no accountability, neither any help for the newbies. If you go out of the country, at many Gym's there are one or two, depending on the size of the gym, certified personal trainers to guide you on your form, and assist with the machines, walking the room. Stand out from the competition LA Fitness! Bring quality, not just quantity. The "Personal Trainer area" takes a chunk of this space, and it is clearly under used. Most of the front desk staff are nice, and the manager ( I forgot his name) is always nice and friendly, so that is a plus. The machine area is relatively clean, the shower smells, like mold tho. If you are a dude, and know what your doing this place might be for you, if you are a newbie you might want to go...
