I'm disappointed I can only give this place 5 stars. They definitely deserve 6 or 7 stars! The facilities are extremely clean, alot of thought and care have been put into the design and details, from the custom milled wood trim to the hilarious signs in the bathrooms, to the tree slab tables. Once you walk in here, you feel nothing but the urge to throw sharp chunks of steel at defenseless targets. Its stress relieving, entertaining, great music, and fun! Great for families, friends, date nights, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and corporate team building.
The prices are reasonable, and its BYOB. Jason and his staff are top notch! Extremely friendly! And they make everyone feel welcome, from first timers, to the regulars that come out. Everything is sanitized/disinfected after each use (down to the pens you use). Each person has their own hatchet that they use for the duration of the session, so you don't have to worry about sharing hatchets/disinfecting between each throw. The hatchet pits are already socially distanced, so you're far enough away from other groups. Safety is their number one concern, with fun followed closely behind.
My girlfriend and I went once before, and had a blast. Jason and his staff are more than helpful for beginners/first timers, providing tips and instruction on how to throw. Then we jumped right in and signed up to join their summer league (six week session) and were not disappointed! After a frustrating time of consonantly bouncing the hatchets off the targets, one of the staff members came over and gave us a five minute coaching session, including where to stand for each of us, and how to hold our hands, and the mechanics of throwing the hatchet. I don't recall her name, but she was so knowledgeable that she was able to correct both of our techniques in those five minutes! It enabled us to throw many bullseye's that same night, and even win a couple of our matches during the league competition that same night!!! All that from five minutes of coaching from one of the experts at Stumpy's! I can't say enough good things about the facility, and the people. Don't take my word for it, don't take my girlfriend's word (or many bulls eyes that she's been throwing) for it, take an hour and go see for your self. You will not be disappointed.
P.S. Only fun people, with a sense of humor are allowed...
Read moreI wasn't sure what to expect because i lost the use of my dominant arm and just didnt think I could throw with my left. Matt came over and gave us the basics and some tips and great conversation. However, Terry was awesome. She noticed how much I was struggling with the weight of the axe and actually brought me an axe easier for me to throw. She showed me the best ways to throw it and took the time to see where I may be making simple mistakes. Instantly I started hitting the board and even hit the bullseye multiple times. She was so sweet and so friendly and was able to notice that I was struggling but not wanting to say anything. In between turns we even had other games to play and things to do. All around it was a great time. I will definitely be back and will be recommending this place...
Read moreTons of fun. Staff was amazing.Terri was an awesome.coach even though she lost one challenge and had to give up a koozie haha! The alleys are cozy with different themes. They take your food and set it up while you're filling out waivers and listening to the safety intro. They also take your drinks and put them into buckets with ice. There are fun games all around so you have something to do while waiting for your turn to throw. So much better than Bury the Hatchet in Cherry Hill which feel.like the economy version of this place. We'll...
