I had the pleasure of dining at Anise Vietnamese Cuisine on a Sunday around 4 PM. From the moment we walked in, the experience was off to a great start. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained, with a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. We were greeted with a friendly smile and a warm hello, which set the tone for a pleasant dining experience. Since it wasn’t too busy at that time, we were seated immediately.
Our waiter was attentive and friendly, making sure we felt welcome and comfortable. I ordered the rare round eye steak pho along with a side of thinly sliced grilled beef. The food arrived quickly, and the aroma was mouthwatering. The presentation was inviting, and I was eager to dig in.
The thinly sliced grilled beef looked absolutely delicious, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to its appearance. The initial taste was fine, but after chewing, an overwhelming bitter aftertaste made it inedible for me. It was a major letdown, and I’d have to rate it a disappointing 1/10.
Thankfully, the pho was the saving grace of the meal. The broth was incredibly aromatic, rich in flavor, and deeply satisfying. Every spoonful was comforting and full of depth, making it a strong 8/10 in my book.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was excellent—clean, cozy, and well-lit—which deserves a perfect 10/10. Despite the misstep with the grilled beef, my overall experience was positive. I would definitely return to try other dishes, as the service and ambiance...
Read moreI visited the restaurant’s website to check out their menu and pictures, which all looked mouthwateringly delicious. After browsing, I decided to order the stir fry rice noodles with vegetables and some wings. But when I got home and finally got the chance to dig in, I was so disappointed to see that the stir fry rice noodles didn’t look anything like the picture on the website. It was a completely different dish.
I called to explain the situation, and the host who answered the phone casually told me, “Oh, the pictures on our website might be misleading.” I couldn’t believe it—talk about frustrating! After taking a deep breath and trying to stay calm, I ate the wings, which were just okay. I let it go, but honestly, that’s a huge turnoff. You get one chance to mess up an order with a misleading image, and they blew it.
To top it off, the host had the nerve to ask if I was leaving a tip when I picked up my food. Seriously? Look, the food’s not bad, because I’ve eaten there before, but if you’re ordering takeout, definitely check your order before leaving. It’s a shame they dropped the ball...
Read moreWe went here around 5pm on a Sunday and the place was empty, but we like it that way! It did fill up later on. Our server said we beat the dinner crowd. My boyfriend got the beef vermicilli and was obsessed with it from start to finish, which is why I'm writing this review. We eat out about once a week and I have never seen him have a reaction to a meal like he did to this dish! He loved it so much it was hard to hold a conversation, lol!
Our server we think was the/an owner or member of the owner family. He was super friendly, warm and helped us make our menu choices.
I got the chicken lo mein which I enjoyed, but this review is mainly for my boyfriends vermicilli and the warm, friendly service.
We don't live nearby. We live closer to the Cherry Hill location, and maybe will try there one day, but hopefully it lives up to this spot's warmth and good food!
My only suggestion is to turn the music down a notch - it was a little too loud for us. The dining area is spacious enough that they don't need to have loud music to cover conversations.
Thank you for the warm welcome and...
