Harbor itself is great! Docks are pretty well maintained. Power and water stations are in good shape as are most dock boards.
No pilings in the wells but the 4x4's attached to the docks do the job.
The mooring cleats are fabulous!!!
The bathrooms and other facilities are about average for a public marina.
Make sure to check-in at the Harbor Master office upon arrival as that's not clear in their instructions. They give you the key code for the bathrooms and entry gate. However, I think that office is only staffed until 4pm on wknds.
My problem with the marina has more to do with its resulting location. Atwater St. (marina borders this street) is basically a cruising strip for young adults blaring music and squealing tires...until 2am on wknds.
I frequently visit downtown Detroit and the neighborhood around the marina still needs some work. There are still some shady elements around the area...so beware...especially if walking back from downtown late at night.
I'd recommend staying on the main streets (or river walk) and away from the parking decks where people are existing and may view others as a...
Read moreI perform a religious practice from time to time and this spring on my birthday I performed my practice and was disappointed by what I consider to be a disturbance by "fishermen" that were "fishing". In my spiritual understanding, I was subject to the "fishermen" "Drinking water" from not their "own cistern". It was as if they were Godless. As one had a flimsy rod attached to a torn net. The other immediately made his presence felt as soon as I pulled my spiritual gifts from its carrying case by loudly acknowledging judgement on my spiritual gifts. As I am not Red Robbin Hood and this is not a forrest with a trail let a lone a point leading to Grandma's house. I don't appreciate the terrorism that was implemented in my personal that day. I guess one of my "spiritual advisors" was right when He explained, "For you don't know the evil that is upon the earth.". # I was not feeding you Satan...
Read moreWilliam G. Milliken State Park is such a beautiful and refreshing escape right in the heart of Detroit! 🌿✨ Located along the Detroit River, the park offers stunning waterfront views, peaceful walking and biking trails, and plenty of open spaces to relax. I especially love the lighthouse and the marina — perfect spots for photos and just soaking in the scenery. It’s a great place for a calming stroll, a picnic, or even just sitting by the water and watching the boats pass by. The riverfront pathways connect to the Detroit RiverWalk, making it ideal for longer walks or bike rides. Everything is well-maintained, clean, and safe, and there’s always a lovely breeze coming off the river. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this park is definitely worth stopping by if you want a slice of nature with gorgeous city and river...
