I went to the trouble of renting a scooter to make my way from the RenCen to the Milliken Harbor so that I could view and appreciate the Milliken Lighthouse. Only recently constructed in 2004 during the first phase of the park's development, it stands at 63 feet tall and was designed as a scaled-down replica of the Tawas Point Lighthouse, a historic beacon on Lake Huron built in 1876.
This lighthouse doesn't serve a traditional navigational role like its Great Lakes predecessors. Instead, it marks the entrance to the harbor and serves as a visual anchor for the park. The park itself was originally named Tri-Centennial State Park, commemorating the founding of Fort Detroit in 1701, and was later renamed in 2009 to honor Governor William G. Milliken, a champion of environmental stewardship.

We were supposed to go along the wall but we draft seven and a half feet on our boat and there are rocks and tree trunks along the wall so we were not able to tie up. Art who has a slip here contacted a friend of his that was gone overnight so we were able to use his slip. It's just nice to know that people try to help one another.
