First off I had to wait almost a Week to write this review due to the fact I really needed to get my thoughts together. I love writing reviews, however I was hesitant on writing a review because I did not want to give this company a bad rep. I did read a review that was posted from fathers day and I believe the person that posted that review was A Party that was in danger with us as well. First off it should be mandatory to wear a life jacket on this river tubing adventure, and adventure it was. To make a long story short i took my husband and two children 15 and 20 tubing for Father's Day. I purchased two paddles for rent thank goodness as well as straps to tie all our rafts together. Please check to make sure your straps all click in and work prior to leaving the counter. We got in the raft to find out that our straps did not click they were broken. My children happen to have the straps that were defected and their rafts floated away. It was a Disaster no one helped and my husband got out of his raft to try to swim upriver to help them. Once
that was resolved an hour later we managed to tie the straps through our life vest to make us all stay together. Ok like the other reviewer stated once you do the two hour down the river when it's time to exit you don't have a clue. We only knew when to exit because a group of another family was passing the exit point and the driver who probably came down to see why we were in the river so long noticed people were passing the exit. She had to throw a rope in and it took about an hour to be rescued. My husband who swims well couldn't manage was nervous and the kids were distraught we almost went down river because we didn't know to exit and start paddling to the left at abbots bridge to get out. Once we noticed another family was in danger we realized omg we have to exit. We couldn't, we couldn't get our raft to go to the left even with the paddles. Thank goodness the other family was was holding on from a old dead tree sticking out the river. The woman was able to grab my daughters hand as we drifted by and that kept us all together. It was about 14 of us all stranded in the river with one person holding on to a tree that kept us all connected from heading down river. If it was not for the other family holding on for dear life to a tree stump at the exit, and if the lady would have not grabbed my daughters hand, my entire family would have gone down the current into the dam.
The bus driver was a nice person and risked her life pulling us all in one by one it took a little over an hour. What made me really upset was that there should be a Safer way to exit off the abbots crossing. There should be signs and paddles should be mandatory per raft and the straps are a life saver they should be mandatory to connect your teenagers if anyone is under 18 the straps should be mandatory. This was our first time tubing and my family is Leary to try agAin. The only reason I don't want to bad mouth the company is because the female older bus driver saved our lives for sure, she is owed so much credit and I thAnk you from the bottom of my heart. You are very appreciated. However this company needs to revamp and have some road signs made along the river stating abbotts bridge crossing please paddle to the left get ready to exit. Also they said it would be a beach to pull over to have a snack and eat ya lunch. I didn't see that on the two hour trip and that was a landmark I was looking for. The price of ten dollars should be higher to include paddles and straps. Instead of making it optional. I guess this is why you have to sign a waiver prior to going. Very risky. Wonderful staff just was a day from hell. Please people know where to exit and pay the difference get the paddles and straps. Make sure the straps work. This place is a death trap, $10 is not worth it. Not sure how they are still open. if you fall out your raft, no one will help you. They will literally float on by and watch you...
Read moreI hope that every single person can see this before planning a trip to this location. I've been river tubing multiple times before, but I've always felt well prepared and well informed of the risks and the trip. I felt that the staff here were very uneducated about the river and did not encourage or practice safety.
Myself and four other friends went tubing here (06/01/2023) and we were not given thorough instructions on how to SAFELY exit the river. We were told that when the second bridge came into view, we were to "start making our way to the left side where there would be people in pink shirts to help." With this information, we thought it wouldn't be difficult to exit the river. However, the current picked up and we began rapidly moving downstream. Two young employees stood on the ramp and tussled with the safety rope. They were unable to get it untied or throw it more than three feet out into the water. In attempt to scare us they yelled out, "If you go past the bridge, you'll go down the waterfall." This caused a panic and a few of my friends jumped into the freezing water without life jackets. Even as they made their way to the ramp, the employees, Xavier and Harrison, did not help them. Me and my two female friends were left on the tubes together. In the chaos, my two friends flipped into the water without their life jackets on properly. Even with two girls barely treading the freezing water, no one made an attempt to help. Luckily, I was able to pull both girls back up and push them to shore on top of the floats. When we got up on the trail, a shirtless, shoeless, employee strolled by us. I asked him, "You don't know how to throw a rope?" and his response was, with a smile, "The rope don't throw." When I talked to the other employees, the blamed the manager for not having an emergency kayak on stand-by. The manager, Ellen, laughed and tried to joke with us about the situation. Her demeanor indicted she was trying to avoid anymore trouble; she offered us vouchers and asked us to come back. The icing on the cake is that she gave us peanut butter protein bars, which one of my friends is deathly allergic to!!!!
In order to get a refund, we had to contact the owner, Jordan, about the situation. I was able to get a hold of his phone number, but he was very rude and nonchalant. I told him that I wasn't satisfied that the employees were given a "15 minute talking to" and that I would like a follow up to the situation. He replied that "he didn't need to provide me with a step-by-step of how he's dealing with the situation." I just wanted to know if they would implement safer practices or verbal instructions to future visitors.
Long story short, every single person involved with this company is reckless and negligent. I'm sure that our situation is uncommon, but in the occurrence of an emergency, you'd expect someone to know how to help. I've seen another review of this company saying that this place is a DEATH TRAP, and that is nothing short of the truth. I am urging everyone to stay away from...
Read moreI recently had a horrifying experience with Chattahoochee River Tubing that left me deeply disturbed and outraged. I feel compelled to share my story to warn others about their complete lack of professionalism and disregard for customer safety. This incident almost cost the lives of my friends, and it is truly a miracle that we managed to escape unscathed.
From the very beginning, it was evident that safety was not a priority for Chattahoochee River Tubing. Upon arriving at the facility, we were met with disinterested staff members who seemed more interested in chatting amongst themselves than attending to their customers. Their lackadaisical attitude set the tone for what would become a disastrous day.
The equipment provided by Chattahoochee River Tubing was in a deplorable state. The tubes were worn-out and punctured in multiple places, making them highly unsafe for a river adventure. Despite expressing our concerns about the poor condition of the tubes, the staff dismissed us with a nonchalant attitude, assuring us that they were perfectly fine. This blatant negligence should have been a red flag for us, but we reluctantly decided to proceed, unaware of the dangers that awaited us.
As we began our journey down the Chattahoochee River, it quickly became apparent that the staff had failed to inform us about the treacherous conditions. The river was abnormally turbulent that day, and the currents were stronger than we had anticipated. It was clear that the weather conditions were not suitable for tubing, yet Chattahoochee River Tubing had no qualms about sending unsuspecting customers into a potentially life-threatening situation.
To make matters worse, there was a complete absence of safety measures or trained personnel to assist in emergencies. We encountered numerous obstacles along the river, including fallen trees and large rocks, which posed significant risks. It was at one such point that my friend's tube got caught on a submerged branch, leaving her trapped and struggling to stay afloat. Panic set in as we watched her desperately gasping for air, with no assistance in sight. It was only through sheer luck and the quick thinking of another tuber that we managed to rescue her from the dangerous predicament.
The lack of professional staff and proper safety protocols demonstrated by Chattahoochee River Tubing is appalling and inexcusable. Their incompetence and disregard for customer well-being put numerous lives at risk that day. It is unacceptable that a company entrusted with providing recreational activities would be so callous and irresponsible in their operations.
I strongly urge anyone considering tubing with Chattahoochee River Tubing to reconsider. Your safety and well-being should never be compromised for the sake of a company's profit. Choose a reputable establishment that prioritizes customer safety and adheres to proper safety standards. Chattahoochee River Tubing's unprofessionalism and negligence almost cost my friends their lives, and I implore others not to take...
