I primarily wanted to leave this review to give a shout out to the excellent delivery driver. We ordered on 9/12/21 for delivery to our campervan parked at a local campground/marina. We had just gotten into the city, and were honestly very concerned that a delivery driver would never find us because there's a business, a hotel, a marina, and a small RV park all tucked into the same lot and the site numbers of the RV sites aren't very easy to see. Our delivery driver called when he arrived as he wasn't quite sure where to go, and he couldn't have been more pleasant or understanding! He quickly arrived at our spot, and even my husband who normally doesn't notice these things, came in commenting on how cheerful the driver was. In a time of massive understaffing and when the vast majority of food service industry professionals probably aren't very happy, this gentleman really stood out for his positive attitude.
Our food was hot and fresh, and we would certainly order again with the ease of online ordering and convenience of delivery. I ordered The Boss pizza and customized it to remove the pickled veggies and change the sauce. I really liked the texture and consistency of the crust, and the toppings were clearly high-quality. I did feel like it wasn't as flavorful as I would have liked, especially given that it had pepperoni, salami, and basil on it which are usually all quite flavorful on their own. It was just a bit bland, and I think it was likely because the pizza sauce just wasn't very flavorful. I happened to have a jar of these fancy artisan chili flakes I like on hand, so between those and the side of alfredo I ordered, I was able to achieve my desired level of flavor. My husband ordered The Luce with no customizations, and like me, he felt like it was good, just not very flavorful. He liked the sausage, but felt like the sauce needed to have way more flavor. Unlike me, he doesn't like spicy, so that wasn't the issue. He actually said he liked the pacific veggie pizza he sometimes orders from Domino's better. I would also say that we ordered a garlic cheese bread and it had zero flavor and we ended up throwing it away.
So, all of that to say, our experience with online ordering and delivery was top-notch, but the actual food left a little to be desired. I think if we opt to order again, we will likely get pizza with a different sauce, because the side of Alfredo I got actually had a nice flavor, but the regular pizza sauce and marinara were just so bland and this would have been a 3 star review if not for the positive experience with the...
Read moreWe just visited on our vacation to the North Shore. We were blown away by this great pizza restaurant!
We started with the garlic cheese toast. I believe it had cilantro on top which was delicious. There was a hearty serving of marinara included, and it was only $1 to add another marinara.
My daughter ordered the spinach salad - it had a great balance of savory and sweet, and was a good-sized portion.
I ordered the Hulapeño pizza. I don't like pineapple on pizza, so I requested it removed, however when it showed up at the table it was included. I was really hungry from a full day of hiking, and didn't want to wait for another pizza to be made. It was so delicious with the pineapple! The real star, though, was the Hot Honey - I couldn't get enough of it! Who thought that would be great with pizza?? Such a delicious combo!!
I have a vegetarian son, and we were astounded by all of the vegetarian options available! Vegan bacon, sausage, pepperoni, and more. Also there were vegan cheese available and gluten-free options. I felt that the variety was more than any restaurant in the much larger city we're from!
The atmosphere inside was great. Lots of outstanding local art on the walls to enjoy and available for purchase. A really cool avocado table for big groups. And you can watch them toss pizza crust while you're sitting at a table, which is always fun.
The area outside was the only place I felt a little unsafe on our travels, and I skirted the kids away after one Pokemon Go battle.
This restaurant is definitely on my list when we...
Read moreI had a pretty negative experience last weekend. My boyfriend and I drove up from the twin cities, and placed an order so we could pick it up on the way to my families house. The guy who answered the phone wasn't the most pleasant to speak with and when I got there I'm sure it was the same person who I talked with on the phone. He missed part of our order, which is ok however it was so busy, and I had to wait an extra 30 minutes for our wings. He didn't apologize at all for missing part of our order, and also made it seem like it was my mistake and not his. When I ordered the second wings, I walked up and told him I have celiac disease and that if he could please tell the kitchen to avoid cross contamination as much as possible .. he raised his eye brow and said "yeah". I sat down and noticed he didn't put in a note or go and talk with anyone. When he passed me to go do something I asked if he made a note somehow or told them, and he said "oh yeah, they know." How would they know I have celiac? He didn't seem to take it seriously, have any sort of empathy for my wait. The manager was kind and gave me the wings on discount and a server offered me something to drink. When my wings were finally done the guy came over and handed them to me and walked away. No sorry or anything. I wouldn't want to go back there just because of that guy and I have been eating at pizza luce since I was a kid in duluth. Having to ask for special requests for celiac I already feel like a nuisance so to actually make me feel like a nuisance and that you don't care...
