My review is based ONLY on our experience in the DECC original arena area and concourse during a robotics competition in March of 2023, NOT the Amsoil arena. We didn't see other rooms or venues inside this facility. The arena looks like it might be used for hockey games typically, and maybe even some concerts but I'm not sure. You can definitely tell this was the original piece to this entire convention center, built in 1966. The seating is very steep with concrete steps that were a bit precarious to navigate up and down. The arena was extremely warm for March, which probably doesn't happen during hockey games. It was a bit unbelievable they couldn't control the temperature better, But the robotics coach told us "it's like this every year." For an event that happens every year, It seemed like they weren't prepared for the number of people for the event. The concourse is very narrow causing it to be very crowded especially with crowds going both directions. The vending machines to get drinks out of were either out of order, empty, would take exact change only, or credit card capability offline. The bathrooms on the concourse are older, small, dated, and smelled awful. We walked out of the arena area and concourse into a carpeted area that might be newer addition and found a little bit bigger better bathrooms there. The concession lines were also crazy long at the lunch break, and again didn't quite seem prepared for the numbers, even though it's an annual event. Maybe it was a staffing issue, but In that case they need to allow you to bring in outside drink and food, which we will do if we need to attend in the future. We will also bring shorts...

REO/Styx concert....music/show was awesome....one complaint: I think you guys need to watch who you continue to serve beer to....saw way too many people being served 2 beers at a time who were so drunk already, they couldn't walk straight or stop spilling beer everywhere, including on others. Kinda weird to see since signs were up saying specifically that you could only buy 1 beer at a time. I had a guy next to me who was so drunk, he was bumping into me constantly and almost sitting in my lap whenever he tried to to sit back down in his own chair....it got so bad, I ended up leaving main arena and going into upper hallway to "listen" to last 45 minutes of Styx....very disappointed to pay almost $100.00 for a ticket and not be able to "see" band! Even reported problem and exact seat where guy was....nothing was said to him....I told my husband to stay and enjoy....the guy fell on him a couple of times! Not sure if I'll ever pay to go to a concert at Amsoil again....not with chance of dealing with...

I took my 14yr old son to his first concert at the DECC. It was my third time seeing Redman & Method Man. The show was great, but the staff was something else. I will remember how nice and engaging they were for a long time, granted most people had grey hair in the crowd. My son had questions, and they answered. The building, it is just pure hockey and it's perfect because we're a hockey family. I was able to park in the garage, walk across the Skywalk, and BAM, right into the venue. I highly recommend seeing a concert there, and I'm sure the hockey games are just as fun and welcoming.

From January 27h to February 2nd, this was the location of the 2025 USA Curling National Championships, where the winners go on to represent the US on the world stage. Fun fact, this was the same venue that 50 years ago, that Team USA won the Silver Broom Championship (later called World's Men's Curling Championship). The event drew a lotof support from the community; lively crowds turned up cheering on the action! As well, this even was covered by Sports Stadium Network, to watch from the comfort of your own home.

Parking was 10$. It gets you pretty close to canal park. We were there for First Robotics competition. The place is dated (a couple of bathroom stall doors didn't work properly) and to get to your seats everything is very crammed. Not my favorite venue. But whaddya do? If it's where your event is then ya gotta go! Strollers are not easy to get in to the arena area and find a seat with. I'd advise against using them if possible. The skywalk to the parking area made getting to and from our car to grab things easy.
