Canal Park Brewing Company delivers the full craft brewpub experience—flavorful beers, creative food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a clear sense of purpose behind everything they do.
I started with the Northcoaster Light, an American Light Lager that was flavorful, smooth, and incredibly easy to drink—I ended up ordering a second. My companion had the Lingonberry Hard Seltzer, which packed a flavorful punch while still being crisp and smooth. Both drinks were top-notch and well crafted.
The atmosphere was lively and eclectic, with an incredibly diverse crowd. It felt like a place where everyone was welcome, and that vibe made the whole experience even better. The service was amazing—despite how busy it was, we received our food in under ten minutes.
I ordered the Fish Tacos, which featured perfectly deep-fried walleye—offering a uniquely Midwestern twist on traditional street tacos. The filling was balanced with cheese, cilantro, and onion, and the roasted poblano brought everything together with bold, rich flavor. My companion had the Brewpub Smash Burger, which was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The caramelized onions added a deep, savory element that really elevated the dish.

Read moreMy family and I ate here for an early dinner, first I'd like to say the atmosphere was great; clean, open and the view with the oversized windows allowed for some good views. The server was good and took our order right away but as should be since we were the only ones there besides one other couple. On the down side though, with only us there practically she failed to offer myself and my daughter refills on our sodas but was eager to get the rest of my table a second beer. Which yes it's a brewery so your going to push the alcohol, but it wouldn't have taken long to bring us a soda as well. Although taking orders quickly is good we were pretty rushed between recieving out drinks and being pushed to order. Aside from that, the food was mediocre at best. The cheese curse we ordered as an appetizer were raw, the cheese was just melted but the breading was underdone, not hot and tasted like mush. The tacos my daughter ordered were tasteless and luke warm and she only got 2 and they were quite small. My husband got the taco flight again tasteless warm and the sauce that came with them was less than appetizing. My mom in law got a wrap but it was so overwhelming with pickled onion you could pull the actual flavor profile. And my father in law and I got the fish and chips. When the server gave them to us she made sure to tell us they weren't burnt as they were so dark, but informed us that the oil was darker than normal...but i know that's old unchanged unclean oil. I'm not even sure the oil was warm enough as the breadding was mushy and dripped out. And the bones...so many. I had really high hopes for this place but unfortunately my hopes were not met. For the hefty bill i expected more. Luckily there's many other food options...
Read moreThis is a fun and popular place, beautiful location for sure. I think I've been here maybe 6 times in 7 years. I've always felt the food was mediocre at best. I don't drink, so I cannot comment on the beer, but most people seem to love it. My last visit was with my family as my nephew was graduating college and this was his choice for dinner. We ordered cheese curds which were sitting in some kind of dressing and they were luke warm and wet and soggy. I ordered tacos with chips and a cup of soup. The soup was mostly just broth with 1 sliver of sad sausage floating in it. The tacos were $19 small and flavorless. And the server forgot the chips and salsa. He brought the soup at the same time as the tacos and while trying to make room for them on the table, I knocked over my own soda (totally my fault) it went all over the table, on my clothes and shoes and all over the floor. He just said "oh crap" stood there for a few seconds and left. The rest of us managed to find some paper napkins on a waitress stand, and we soaked it all up. The server came back 15 minutes or so later and asked how everything was..I didn't say anything because we were done eating and I didn't want to be a creep but my wife goes well he never got a refill on his drink or his chips. And again, the waiter just kind of stood there, and I said at this point I dont care. It's not a big deal. I think the bill was 187 plus tip, which we all split. And I went back to the hotel and ate some pretzels because I was still hungry. I really can't be angry because I never expect things to be good here, and at least we all kind of laughed about the...
