On a monday evening ( july7th2025) lurkers roaming the parking lot from 830 pm on checking cars. Bums repeatedly entered my vehicle stealing my children's possessions. Rear door left unlocked. The next day it was pulling teeth and a lot of excuses of going through the footage. The culprit left sunglasses in my truck police would not take finger prints stating it costed to much money. Even though they sent an ambulance and fire truck and 3 squad cars to remove two drunk bums laid out on the hotel property. As I called the hotel and asking more questions about the footage I was asked to leave the property and police would be informed( in front of my three kids) i was informed their insurance company would be contacting me but I have been getting the circling and avoidance. I did get the footage within 24 hours after being told it would take 3 three days but had to explain how this is un acceptable. Over all the hotel and staff are on their game and cannot say much however this situation has been handled poorly and avoiding big issues is not a mark of competence. At first I thought it was homeless person. But know I feel it's an inside job since this guy was in and around and apparently he was not found on any other cameras on the property. During any other times. Even though he went in im my vehicle 3 times of what was shared in 20 minutes. From my previous experience in another hotel my information was giving to police regarding my vehicle because of suspicion based on a vehicle description even though my vehicle had not moved during the times of question. When hilton has a property issue they wasted no time. But I got the run around. I was told by staff their insurance company would be getting in contact with me. 2 weeks later everyone is dodging evading pointing fingers. Response: your hotel wasted no time removing the two drunk homeless people or threatening to remove me and my kids when calling about additional items noticed missing. Yes a door was unlocked we where not informed of your issue. I rarely lock my vehicle and never had an issue. If there persons walking in between cars checking doors I'd assume the hotel would be sensitive to such issues. Thank you for the scrappy ending to our vacation From fb reviews seems you have an issue of theft. Ever question...
Read moreBeautiful location between Lake Superior and the shopfront of Canal Park. Free amenities, such as bottled water, coffee, and tea are a great plus for weary travelers! The staff offers good service to guests. However, I am choosing to give this location a 4/5 star rating due to the noise. During my stay, what appeared to be a rambunctious family was placed above me. I could also hear children running and screaming in the halls. I could hear the footsteps of the guests above me, and the loud noise took place from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM. The footsteps were not a light "pitter-patter" as sometimes described, but rather heavy and unpredictable, and I felt the shaking from the impact in my room. To remedy this, I contacted the front desk twice about the noise. When I complained the second time, I did not quite get the answer I expected. I was met with a response from the staff member that felt rather dismissive to me and my concerns. However, as I look into it more closely, I understand that it would be hard for the staff to accommodate my request. I don't think that this location has enough sound-proof material installed to muffle the noise coming from upstairs and other rooms, and there is not a lot that staff can do to help alleviate the bothersome noise. If you are experiencing sleep problems, I highly suggest requesting a room on the third floor (highest floor) when booking here. This will help minimize the bothersome and loud noise. I also work in rental and assist in managing a rental duplex (two-story dual units in one building). This duplex is older and has very creaky floorboards. Being aware of the guests' needs, I never place families and large parties in the upper unit if there will be a party in the lower unit. When working, I also take complaints about noise from the lower unit guests very seriously and go out of my way to accommodate them as much as possible. I understand that Duluth is a favorite place for tourists, and it may be hard for this location to determine placement of large parties and families to make sure all of the guests are happy due to the high amount of demand. Considering everything else during my stay, the hotel met my expectations. The food served at breakfast was amazing. I would definitely recommend staying here when in the...
Read moreI went on a road trip to the upper peninsula in Michigan with my girlfriend on 9/1. On our way back we decided to visit Duluth on 9/7 and we planned on spending a night or two there. Since we knew that we weren't going to get in until late I booked a room ahead online at the Hampton off Canal park. We got in around 9:00 and were exhausted. When we tried to check in they couldn't find my reservation. After 30 minutes of trying they still couldn't and called a manager. She mentioned that if I booked it recently it could take some time to appear. So I waited for another half hour for a confirmation email. I received it and she was still unable to find it. After waiting some more she was able to find it, but said it was booked under a different Hampton inn, but that one was in Wisconsin. She said that for some reason that ones one comes up as being in Duluth at times. I know that I booked it on the location of Canal park because it said that when I booked it. She said that due to them not sharing systems that they couldn't update the reservation at all even though that she could see it and had open rooms. I had to call and cancel my reservation which took another 30 minutes for it all to batch and to get a confirmation number. When that was done I tried to check in and was ready to pay for the room and they said that it was already paid for. I said no I should be paying. They said that there was no need. I assumed that they were comping the room for the hour and a half wait. My girlfriend who was in a foot brace at the time had fallen asleep waiting in the lounge area. Later I found out that it wasn't comped that they had used my points that I had saved up even though I explicitly said I was supposed to pay. Long story short this was incredibly unorganized and far too lengthy. It would have been much easier to just match the price that I had booked the room for and I would have cancelled the other one. Instead I didn't get to sleep until close to 11:30 and only spent 1 day in Duluth because this process was so exhausting. I wasn't able to enjoy anything about the hotel (pool, gym, etc) because of the lengthy and aggravating check in process. The location of the hotel is great if...
