Stage Door was a wonderful place for years, and we've been season ticket holders every year from 2011 to 2020. Unfortunately, in 2020 they fired longterm artistic director Robert Eggizio, and with him completely lost the qualities that made us love it. After an abortive year with a director who wanted to turn it into a new Shakespeare house, they have now descended into a millenial/GenZ, angsty, edgy aesthetic that just doesn't work.
The play we attended last night, "Completeness," is a depressing and pointless rom-not-com that loses its way in meaningless pseudoscientific babble (spectacularly delivered by the actors though) and loveless hookups. It also was the weakest attendance I've seen in this venue, with no more than 30 in a 140(ish)-seat venue.

Read moreI debuted my stage play "Secrets We Keep" at Stage Door Theatre on May 24th 2025. It was a GREAT and WONDERFUL experience, to say the least. The staff was awesome from the beginning to the end. I worked with Lilly throughout the entire process, and she ensured that everything ran smoothly. From my original tour of the facility, all the way up to showtime! This is a wonderful hidden jewel in Dunwoody! Check out their performances as well, found on their website. If your child is interested in Theatre, Stage Door is a great place for them to explore that interest! I would definitely rent their space again...

The venue, although tucked inside a fairly plain looking building is well designed and cute and all the staff are hugely friendly and helpful.
The audience is slightly more mature in years than say the Fox or Seven Stages, but appreciate, repeat audience who have found their niche.
Program of works is classic Americana and American play book staged solidly by a mix of Equity and known-name production team and long-standing collaborators...
