UPDATED REVIEW (update at the end) VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! They have a sign that's very visible in the back that says, "Meat cutters are AVAILABLE from 8:30am to 5:30pm." I was there at 10 minutes to 5...4:50pm, and the guy said that because he had already cleaned the saw, that he could not do what I needed. If I could rate them zero I would. I have been shopping there for years, however I had always gotten meat that was already cut. My cousin (whom I had referred there), told me she liked the turkey chops that I told them to try from there and that one time they went to get some and they were out and so she had a whole turkey breast sliced by the meat cutters and she felt like it was a better deal and tasted better. So I traveled from Mebane, NC to get some and this is the service I was greeted with. Needless to say, I left everything in my cart and left the store. I won't be returning and will be sure to spread the word about my experience. the UPDATE As I was sitting in the car, writing this review that I said I would as I left the store, someone from the store came and got my attention and asked me to come back in. She said that they would go ahead and slice/cut the frozen Turkey breast for me and they did. So I updated my rating from a 0 -1 star to a 3 star. I said a prayer over my...
Read moreNever been to a butcher shop so I was in over my head by the terminology when trying to get a ribeye roast or standing roast or prime rib or whatever it's called, but the lady and gentleman behind the meat counter were incredibly patient with my ignorance.
I actually ended up getting a much larger roast than I should've and I only realized my mistake after he had already wrapped it and handed me the monstrous thing which by that point my social anxiety and awkwardness took over and told me "well looks like we're going home with a 12lb roast", but it worked out I suppose. I saved a little less than half to cook whole and the other half I cut up into steaks.
For the same price I was paying per lb at Harris teeter I couldn't believe how much more tender and marbled the roast was. While trying to cut the thing up it fell apart in my hands. I will definitely be back again and I can't wait for the next...
Read moreFirst things first, the meat and poultry sold at red and white is vastly superior to what you will find in any of the big commercial grocery stores. This place has the look and feel of a local grocery store from the 1950s because it is a local grocery store from the 1950s. The produce offerings are fresh and wildly varied. While this would not be my optimal place to buy a bag of Doritos, they certainly do have varieties of apples that I'm not going to find at Harris teeter. The last time I was in the store all of the customer facing employees were white and all of the people shopping were black or hispanic. Everybody getting along and enjoying their groceries. Well there is ample handicap parking, the front door was made for persons in the 1950s and probably wouldn't fit a modern chair. It would be close. I've never seen a person in a wheelchair...
