I recently made a visit to this location to get clarity on the titling and tagging of a new vehicle that I had purchased. As I approached the DMV there was an older african american female who was on her phone. I assumed that maybe it was a customer so I continued to enter the door. This older female instructed me to stand in a certain area which I did. After being in the building for about five minutes, she ended her call and began to ask customers what service they needed. When she got to me,I attempted to explain but she cut me off several times as I was talking. She asked the same question several times but in a different way and seemed to become frustrated when I didn't know the answer again,I was coming to the DMV to get clarity on why it was taking so long to get my vehicle tagged and titled. This lady made sure to mention that she was the manager and that this location wasn't like one of the main locations. She asked for my license and I asked if I could write it down because I was not a fan of the gloves that she had on. I know people are cautious about COVID but wearing gloves ,touching multiple surfaces and not changing them in between only spreads germs. Expressing my concern only made her more frustrated. She took the paper with my information on it and proceeded to go to the back but needed the vehicle information. I again attempted to explain but was cut off and received more attitude and eye rolls. Luckily, there was a representative that assisted me who was polite and joked with me to make this situation a little better since she saw how this "manager" had treated me for the last ten minutes or so. However, during the time that the representative was speaking to me, she continued to insert herself and attempt to tell me what I could or couldn't do. I am not sure how this "manager" became a manager but I think she will benefit from a few training sessions in customer service, etiquette, professionalism as well as how to be a good manager. If you're going to attempt to flaunt being a manager,, at least be good at it.. You can tell she has control issues and gets a kick out of telling people that everything has to go through her. I feel sorry for those who have to work under her management and deal with such a nasty attitude. If you can get better customer service somewhere else, take my advice...
Read more1st experience was not bad, i got my registration transferred from FL to NC. Easy process.
2nd visit was to help my mom get the same exact thing done. We have the same insurance policy becsuse she is the primary insurance holder. Im not sure what the exact law is to get the license plate changed, but this time we were not able to get it done because the insurance was still under Florida. Not a big deal, not sure how I was able to get mine taken care of in 5 minutes but, if thats the law then, OK cool.
The problem was the woman that was "helping" us. I made sure to get her name: Amina (unsure of the spelling). From the beginning, she was extremely condescending and unnecessarily rude. My mom went on to tell her that she just got the NC lincense made 30 minutes ago, and she was now trying to get a new license plate, and the woman put this weird sarcastic smile on, and proceeded to shush my mother, and shook her head. I was very confused at why my mother was being treated like a toddler. And when my mom tried to show her some documents that she brought, this woman WHISPERED to my mom to calm down and not to do anything or say anything unless she is asked to show something, or to answer a question. Excuse me????? That was one of the most demeaning things that i witnessed and it was extremely unpleasant.
She then told us that we couldnt get this done because the insurance was in florida. Of course we are a bit surprised at this point because I already have a NC license plate.... with florida insurance still. So when i tried to ask her about the inconsistency of the situation, she cut me off not once, but three times by holding up her finger, closing her eyes, shaking her head and speaking over me. It was one of those situations where you are so taken aback by the audacity and the rudeness that you just kind of lose words ... NOT going back to this location..., and Amina should learn how to effectively speak with adults before she is released to interact with customers. That was some trippy experience that left a horrible taste...
Read moreThis was the second time visiting this location. Last time, I did a title transfer for myself a few years ago, and then this time I accompanied my friends who were doing a title transfer. Each time I visted this office, they had fast and friendly services although the notary service fee was increased from $5 to $8 per signature. However, I think all DMV locations raised the price for notary services, and you do have to pay notary fee in cash. The black lady with a short hair style who is left handed (sorry I didn't get her name) did the title transfer and was very efficient, extra helpful, and kind. I highly recommend this location. BTW, I didn't know you could get a partial refund of property tax you paid when transfering title for the portion of the year you no longer own the car. That is you have to turn in the license plate and get a receipt and also attach the bill of sales. You have to apply for a refund at Durham County by email with those two pieces of documents within 1 year of time from turning in your license plate and selling your car. Last time, I didn't get a refund because I didn't know about it even though I sold the car within a month of renewing my registration. I could have gotten a few hundred dollars back, but that money was donated to Durham County. The same thing with my two cars that I brought from California, which I had to re-register in North Carolina within 1 month of renewing registration. I guess that money was donated to Contra Costa County then. So do apply for a refund of property tax if you don't want to donate money. Knowledge...
