SOUTHWEST REGIONAL LIBRARY — Attraction in East Point

Horrible experience!!! I used to come to this library as a little girl, and wanted to come back to see the new renovations and get my nephew some books. We came in and couldn’t even get a library card because only parents can get them… so I got a personal card to use instead. NO OTHER children or adults were present in the children’s area, it was just us! Then as we were looking for books IN THE CHILDRENS AREA (he is a kid! He’s excited and interested in reading!) one of the employees (can’t remember her name but she had a curly wig on) came in NOT to check on us to see if we needed helping finding anything but to clap her hands at my nephew, as if he was dog, only to tell him to stop running to the books. Mind you he did two skips to the next aisle, no running involved. I was caught off guard that she had the audacity to rudely come in and clap her hands and address a CHILD and not me, an adult! She then proceeded to leave the children’s area and go back to discuss (gossip) what occurred with her other coworker and pointed at us and rolled her eyes. I did not appreciate what happened here today, and will not tolerate disrespect towards me or any child(ren) associated with me. We will no longer be coming back to this library as the feeling was unwelcoming. It is sad we can’t enjoy things without having to worry about rude, disrespectful and unpleasant staff members. What person is purposely mean and rude to kids!???? I hope any other family that still wants to come here, does not experience what we had to...
