I have ordered from here about 4 times and had been pleased thus far. My previous orders had always been through either DoorDash, UberEats, or Postmates. So once I saw where it was located I figured I'd order from the restaurant directly and pop in since I had enjoyed my previous meals. Tuesday evening I called and Evan who I would soon find out is the manager, or so I was told, answered the phone. Instead of any type of greeting not even a hello, he just said "Mulan, hold on" not even please hold. After about 2 minutes he returned, still no hello, or any type of greeting, just "this is Mulan". I said Hello, I would like to place an order for pick up, before I could even finish my sentence he cut me off by saying "phonenumber" really fast. I relayed my number at the same speed, to which he could not understand, and told him he was speaking very fast to me, and should slow down because just as he could not hear my number I could barely hear him clearly. He did not acknowledge this comment, and just said "name". I gave it and placed my order. I should have just hung up and ordered something different, but I had eaten the garlic shrimp rolls before and they were pretty good, so I wanted to have them. Plus I was in a very good mood and did not let his curt responses and negative attitude effect me. I decided I would let the manager know my feelings when I arrived. When I did arrive I noticed the restaurant wasn't full (about 5 people at the small bar, appearing to be one group that was enjoying their meal and drinks, roughly 4 people at 4 separate tables, with 1 to-go order checking out, and myself) The gentleman at the register seemed to also be answering phones, so I quickly deduced this was who I spoke with. Once I approached I asked if he was the manager, he said yes and confirmed, he also was the person i spoke with. This was very disheartening, considering. I went on to inform him I felt he was very curt on the phone with me, and his attitude and the experience was very off-putting. His response or excuse rather was that he was so busy and short staffed. While on my way I felt maybe they were busy or short staffed. I get it, we're all human, however every customer deserves some level of respect and decency. Which is what I stated. He said "thank you" never looking me in my face, instead fumbling around with the receipt that he snatched off my bag, other receipts and my credit card, still not apologizing only giving the same busy busy excuse and that he wasn't being rude he's just busy. He passed my card back and I reiterated my dissatisfaction and affirmed that I hoped my next visit was more pleasant. He again patronized me with another disingenuous "thankyou", cutting me off once again before finishing my sentence. Never apologizing and keeping the same curt responses that lead us here. There was no one waiting behind me and this was an ideal opportunity to change the narrative, engage your customer and salvage this soured experience.
Evan decided against that. No matter if you've answered the phone 100 times prior to my call, I called once. You only have one shot at a first impression and this was a COMPLETE DISAPPOINTMENT.
Also he has a sign on the door that you must wear masks to enter I sat there as he let a customer enter unmasked and he, THE MANAGER, did not even have a mask on a near.
Now on to my meal. The Garlic Shrimp Rolls, were not a complete disappointment but they weren't as crunchy or well prepared as the first time I had them, but they were ok. The Braised Wings on the other hand were absolutely terrible, I think they were breaded then drenched in this horrific sauce. Unlike any braised wings I'd ever had, the sauce tasted like something out of a bottle, mixed with some type of bottled jerk sauce (like disrespectful store bought Jamaican jerk sauce) it was absolutely dreadful and not edible at all... the chicken itself seemed to be extremely low quality with old bloody (dark brown/black) veins throughout it, it was so fatty. Horrible quality and horrible...
Read moreThis is a popular spot in the community. I went there on two separate occasions and although the ambience is really nice and the servers are very attentive there was some lacking in a few dishes we tried. On my first visit we tried the crab rangoon and wonton soup and my friend really liked the soup but I didnt try it, the rangoons were overfilled and too soft for my tastebuds...probably too used to the versions from local restaurants.🙂 I sampled the Mongolian beef but felt it could use a little more uumph in the seasoning department but it was tasty, nevertheless. The seafood rice dish was visually appealing with aromatic jasmine rice and pineapple chunks mixed in. I wish the seafood wasn't minced, there is a lone scallop on top to let you there is seafood in the dish. I will order this dish again and maybe ask for a side serving of shrimp. On my second visit I ventured out and tried a drink and a different appetizer. My guest tried the fried rice and enjoyed it but was not impressed with the spring roll appetizers due to blandness for an above average dining experience. I ordered the fried tofu appetizer which i had to return. This appetizer is not appetizing and can be removed from their menu as it is a fried glob of mushy tofu. Usually restaurants use very firm tofu when frying. Tried a drink special which left a lot to be desired for the price and i ordered shrimp schezuan which disappointed me because i was expecting the shredded veggies in a spicy sauce but it was served with broccoli which was attractively decorated on the rim of the bowl with a rather bland sauce. The menu doesnt go into detail as to how dishes are prepared so my advice is ASK how every entree is prepared because Mulan's twist may or may not appeal to you. I will go back to this restaurant again as a better...
Read moreI just experienced the WORST customer service ever from Mulan on Fairburn Road. My order from Mulan arrived at my home via DoorDash and it was completely wrong. I immediately drove to Mulan to return the food in exchange for the correct order. During my travel, I received a call from someone claiming to be a representative from DoorDash. She asked me about the service and I told her the food arrived timely, however, the entire order was wrong. The "representative" then reported the correct food was there at the restaurant waiting for me to pick up when I arrived. Upon my arrival, the cashier who sounded like the DoorDash representative on the phone, immediately acknowledged me. The manager came over and asked me to pay the $89 for the food I ordered. I showed him where I paid the fee along with the DoorDash fee and a $15 tip for the DoorDash driver. The manager told me I paid too much and again asked me to pay the restaurant fee. The cashier asked me to have a seat and proceeded to call DoorDash to see how the restaurant could get their $89. I took a seat and decided to call my bank to ask what I could do to cancel the order and receive a refund. I got up to leave and he and the cashier basically begged me to take the food. They handed everything to me and asked me to have. a great day and a great holiday. I took the food and left. I WILL NEVER USE MULAN OR...
