I've shopped here since they have opened. I have spent alot of money here. I loved coming here and is a goto for my many needs outdoor, appearl, recreational, etc. I've never had any major issues and have had many good experiences here but the only problem I have seen and it keeps growing is how some business is conducted. As in with the employee to customer base. It's as if I am walking into a used car lot and the workers are sleazy car salesman. Seen as nothing more than a pigeon or some dumb idiot that needs to be talked into spending money. Its not always like this but more than enough as of late. I don't understand if this is how Scheels wants to run their business or if it's just the person making the personal choice to act this way. Regardless it's become too common to just rule out that it's the individual anymore.

The straw that broke the camel's back;

I've been eyeing an air rifle for my little boy since I've been progressively upgrading him as he gets more confident and aware for such responsibilities. The air rifle was marked as a display, one I've never seen in the store before. Long story short, two associates from the Dept and two more from the gun shop said it was only a display and never owned or shot. I asked why it already had a 3000 psi charge, and they said I comes from the factory at full charge. It didn't have a box or air cap, or a magazine to hold the ammo. I said really and made an annoyed face about it? I couldn't give it a good look over at the store so I bought and check it over when i got home. Picture was what was found jammed in the barrel, same day. More pellets fell out but I could not find them. I estimate 6 to 7 in total as well as chunks and shreds of lead that came out. But 4 workers said it was only a display, never owned, no box, no cap, no magazine, with a full 3000 psi air charge.

I swear if scheels can't act with any integrity or honesty towards their customer base, this company will die off like the many before it. Essentially stop pushing your workers to meet quotas, commissions should be made public, you depend on your clientele to do business. Shady and dishonest employees manifest from leadership pushing and demanding quotas of credit app, upsaled and brand/conversations.

Not every person walking in is a moron or a worm. I'll still shop here since it's closer than any cabelas or bass pro, I know they don't talk to me like I don't know...

They switch to all ice fishing gear and stop restocking some of the most basic open water (also ice fishing) items when it is still 70-80 degrees outside. I came for large octopus hooks…don’t have them? Pink and white 1/4 oz jig heads…don’t have them? Who makes these decisions? What is the thought process? What good does this it do to switch the whole fishing section to ice 2 months before ice is even fishable? Management is clueless if you have that much space for fishing gear and can’t stock octopus hooks and jig-heads into the fall. FYI they sell in the winter too.

Most of the reliable baitshops in the S/SW metro have now closed due to scheels arrival. The least that they could do is be reliable with basic fall fishing products. It is the best bite of the year.

Give your money to one of the few small local baitshop that still remain in the twin cities area rather than this greedy corporation. Even if you have to drive a bit farther. I promise their employees are 100% more knowledgeable, helpful, and way less arrogant. Everytime I have ever been in the fishing section here the employees are typically just standing in a circle mingling with eachother. When someone does rarely ask if they can help you find anything, unless you ask one for the most basic of items (rods, line, plastics) they have to ask their boss where it is. Which takes about 15 minutes. I think most of these young guys can count on their hands and toes the amount of times they have been fishing in their lifetimes and it shows.

Even though I live 6 minutes away and have spent thousands of dollars at this store. I am fed up with the repetitive dissatisfaction and will not be returning for a long time.

Maybe it is just because I use the store as simply a bait shop about 90% of the time but I have never had an issue at any other section of the store. In the fishing section however, it has been issues every time in for about the last...

Every time I shop here it's always great. The constant "Anything I can help you with" is great to see or hear, I know it's part of their job but that's the thing about customer service.

Three weeks ago I called and asked if they work on Hoyt bows, or if they can adjust a bow. They told me yes but to be safe I wanted to bring the bow in so they can look at it. Arrived at the store and gave them my bow, one kid was very helpful and seemed new and the other two just seemed busy which is understandable.

Now, they told me they couldn't work on it which is fine but that something else had to be done incase I wanted a 1/2 draw adjustment and that they would contact their Hoyt Rep. Gave them the benefit of doubt and left my phone number, and name and they said within a day or two they would call me. Told them no worries and to just call me, I waited over a week to call them back and the great part is that not only did they not call the rep, they also didn't call me back. The person who answered the call said a note was on there but that he didn't know anything about it, the manager was on break and he would call me back. Told him "sounds good, I just wanted to know what the rep said and what it's going to cost me to get that adjustment". Waited for that manager to call me back and nothing, shoot I waited a week and nothing.

Now, not sure if they assumed I wouldn't buy, or assumed I wouldn't spend money on my bow but as I mentioned to the kid, I want to get this done before the season starts. I mean that same day I bought some nice hunting gear that another rep helped me with. My point to this long message is always customer service, yes it's a retail store but it's frustrating when you have to constantly call about a service your department provides and I no this wont stop me from purchasing things here but it will stop me from taking something as simple as a Bow Adjustment to a different...
