I broke my screen on a MacBook Pro and was given a tentative quote of $400-$600 from GeekSquad (plus $80 quote fee), with a three-week turnaround date. TechSpot quoted $300 for free, with an anticipated one-week turnaround date, so I was ready to give a 5-star review immediately. At the initial meeting, the technician was very thorough and detailed, which I greatly appreciated (Plus, the office is really cool, tbh!). The reason I dropped my rating to 3 stars, is because of lack of communication afterwards. You pay the amount up front, so you're kind of taking a risk. I waited for an update the first week, but never heard from anyone, so I called myself. I was asked to send a text with my information, and that someone would reach out to me afterwards. I sent the information along, but still nobody reached out. I followed up again the next day, and was told that someone would reach out. I did get a call back, but when I inquired about my product, they let me know that there was some delay with the shipping of the screen. Again, I had been told I would have the product back within a week, and I was told about the delay after a week, with nobody actively letting me know this - had I not reached out, I doubt anyone would have called. I gave it another handful of days, then called again, for an update. Similar process of me calling a couple of times before getting an update - update was to tell me that it would take another week. Ultimately, I did get the product back and the new screen works beautifully (although it no longer holds itself up if angled at less than 90 degrees, but that's not too big of a deal for me). However, the turnaround ended up being three weeks instead of the initially quoted one week. Again, this was the same as Geek Squad, so I would have been fine waiting the three weeks, but I wish they had overestimated the turnaround time rather than trying to underestimate it.
