Don Pepe’s Express — Restaurant in Edinburg

We visited the newly opened Don Pepe’s Express this morning for breakfast, and I have to say, the experience was impressive.

The restaurant itself is beautiful, open, spacious, and nicely decorated. The ambiance is warm and inviting. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted right away and encouraged to sit wherever we liked. Within seconds, our waiter was at our table taking drink orders. My wife and son had apple juice, and I went with coffee. The coffee deserves a special mention; it was smooth and rich, possibly freshly brewed, and easily one of the best I have had in a while.

For food, my wife ordered the Huevos Divorciados, while I went with two singles: Migas and Huevos Rancheros. Both plates came with a side of refried beans. While the portions were fair for the price and the flavors were good, the beans unfortunately arrived cold, which was a bit disappointing. Still, my wife really enjoyed her dish and finished it, as did my son.

The total for our meal was $37.91, which felt reasonable for the quality and service. Despite the small hiccup with the beans, we left satisfied and are looking forward to coming back soon to try more...

The food and staff were great — very friendly and attentive. We went to celebrate my mother’s 60th birthday, and overall, the meal was good. However, we couldn’t help but feel uncomfortable during our visit.

We noticed what seemed to be the owner and possibly a family member, based on the photos displayed, constantly watching us with what appeared to be an upset expression. Yes, we had children with us (ages 2, 3, and 4), and they were running around our area a bit while we finished eating and took some pictures. We were the only large party there, besides one single diner at another table.

At one point, I saw the owner ask a staff member to tell the kids to stop running. The staff member approached us as kindly as possible and simply asked them to be careful, which we appreciated. Still, the atmosphere felt tense, and it was very clear the owners weren’t happy with the situation. As soon as we left, one of them immediately left the building as well.

While we enjoyed the food and service from the staff, the overall experience left us feeling unwelcome. We will not...

Well everything about this place is AWESOME...

Just a little story to go with our Breakfast.

There was a couple and a young lady across from where we were sitting. The older lady kept complaining about her Breakfast to her husband and the younger lady. Of how the Barbacoa was not spicy and how hot the coffee was. She kept rambling on about everything (Negative)... Then she gets up to confront the manager and to complain about everything that they were eating.

The manager gave her a 20% discount, which was not necessary. And the lady still had the oddasity to say that's it?

The lady probably thought she was going to get the meals for free...

Stinkin nonsense, some individuals should just stay home and make their own breakfast.
