A vibrant grocery destination with great variety—just watch the crowds
👍 What Stands Out
Huge Variety & Specialty Items If you want Asian groceries, H‑Mart Edison delivers in spades. From Korean staples (ramen, kimchi, BBQ meats) to fresh produce, live seafood, snacks, and even cosmetics/skincare products. It’s the kind of store where you can try new things and explore foods you don’t normally see in standard supermarkets.
Fresh Produce and Seafood Many folks praise the produce section as large, fresh, and well-maintained. The seafood section is also noted for its live tank selections and variety of fish/crabs.
Food Court & Extras The food court inside H‑Mart and the associated shops (like skincare, bakery, etc.) make it more than just a grocery run. It’s nice to be able to grab a bite after shopping, try samples, or explore kitchenware/household items in one stop.
Clean & Organized Despite the scale and traffic, many reviews mention the store feels clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing. Layout is helpful for finding things; departments are fairly well managed.
👎 What Could Be Better
Crowds / Peak Time Congestion Weekends—especially Sundays—get very busy. It can feel crowded, parking is tougher, and navigating the aisles takes more time.
Price Variation Some items are priced well, especially Asian specialty goods, but others seem pricier than you’d expect—especially when compared to “regular” supermarkets or for everyday basics. It’s worth surveying or comparing if budget is a concern.
Heat & Freshness Sensitivity From what people say, items in the seafood section or possibly produce can suffer during very hot days—less crispness or freshness in extreme heat. Something to watch for if you shop midday in summer.
Food Court Quality Varies The food court is appreciated, but not everyone is a fan of every stall/menu. Some items are highly rated; others less so. If you go just for the food, be selective.
✅ Tips for Best Experience
Go during off‑peak times (weekday mornings or early afternoon) to avoid the most crowded moments.
Make a list ahead of time—given the size, it’s easy to wander and spend more time than intended.
If buying perishables (seafood, fresh produce), try to shop when the store is cooler (morning or evening).
Sample some of the food‑court places you’ve never tried—they can be worth a detour.
📝 Final Thoughts
H‑Mart Edison is a go‑to spot if you want an Asian grocery experience with lots of choices, freshness, and extras. For exploring global ingredients, specialty snacks, or getting quality meats/fish, it delivers well. The trade‑off is dealing with crowds and occasionally elevated prices. If you time it right, it’s a great place to shop...
Read moreThis is a great chain of markets that are super sized and probably one of the biggest Hmarts I have shopped at in the US. Selection is great. Veges and fruit are cleaned and fresh and picked for quality. There is no old smell in this market as they wash and clean everything. There's also a hot food area where you can buy food and sit down to eat. Diverse foods from different Asian cuisines. They also have facial products stores and cute gadgets and gift items stores. To go food as well freshly made. I would give it 6 stars if the prices were as good as the Hmart in Fort Lee, NJ or Flushing NYC, the one close to Gum Gang San restaurant, bc that one that is on northern boulevard, even if it's much smaller, has the best prices. But this Hmart in Edison has very good prices also and you can't beat the quality and cleanliness of the place. If you go to any Asian grocery in a fly over state, the prices will be 2-3x as much per item so stock up if you don't live in NY/NJ or any of the major big cities. This Hmart has the best overall experience with live fast food served and a grocery with other stores for non food products than many others including the one in Hartsdale NY which is much smaller compared to Edison and higher prices. So this one has everything you need as well as non Korean foods. This one is so huge that it has the most snacks and the newest from Korea and many Asian countries. The prices for the snacks are really excellent. When I am in NY/NJ or any other large city, I only buy vegetables and fruit from Hmart due to high quality selection and cleanliness and freshness. I buy all my Fuji apples, mangoes, pomegranate, cilantro, tofu, oranges, Yukon gold potatoes, garlic and onions, and many unique fruit like durian and star fruit and lychee and the fruit come in bulk boxes that makes it so much cheaper. You can easily get a box of 24 mangoes all fresh for $13 (sales come often). And on weekends they give out free samples ñof so many things it’s fun for the whole family! And a cool thing is some of the non Korean staff speak fluent Korean so...
