Note: Please read the owner's comment because she admits and restated the nasty comments she made to me. A decreased tip because I was unhappy with the service does NOT warrant speaking to a customer that way. I was never going to write a review but the comments I received right before walking out is the reason I did.
I literally just got back from an appointment. I had a Groupon for a "women's haircut with blowdry, any length." The woman there was very nice and the wash was great. The haircut was fine also (or so I thought). I told her I wanted the blowdry to give me volume. She started the blowout and it was frizzy. I told her just make sure it's not frizzy and it's fine. A couple mins later she decided it was taking too long and asked if she can straighten it with a flat iron. That is veryyy different from a blowdry but I said yes because it was obvious the blowdry would be a frizzy mess. After an hour, she was done and when showing her the Groupon she asked if I was going to tip (I already planned to but she was very forward). My hair did not look like I intended and I already planned to go home but I decided to tip $6. She very nice up until this very moment. She proceeded to ask for more money, "at least $10" and when I told her it's because the service isn't want I asked for she then said "you should go somewhere else" and "don't come back here. I'm sorry." I was in shock and ended up just walking out because I'm not a confrontational person. I thought I was being very considerate and nice letting her do what she wanted because she couldn't style my hair. Look at the photos! That was 20 mins after leaving the appointment. Never again.
REPLY TO OWNER'S COMMENT: You keep saying I cannot make up my mind but I knew what I wanted. You just couldn't do it because my hair isn't straight/thin. From the moment we started I said I wanted a blowout with volume/waves (NOT straight). After you did the blowout on a section of my hair it was frizzy and I asked that it be more sleek and less frizzy. Sleek ≠ straight. A blowout with volume can be achieved AND be sleek/not frizzy. Thats when I showed you the photo so there's no confusion. I never asked for the flat iron. YOU asked me if it was OK to flat iron because my hair would take a look time blowdrying. So I agreed because at that point the blowout was very frizzy. While flat ironing thats when I saw how choppy my bangs looked. I agreed to what you wanted to do because of your capabilities. You didn't want to put the time into my hair. The wash, haircut and flat iron took 1 hour. I could have been more aggressive and demanding but I wasn't. I simply tipped 50% of what I planned to because I received a service I did not want but agreed to because you couldn't do the blowout. I don't care if the flat iron is usually more because you asked me if it was OK and it saved you a lot of time and effort. The low reviews are entirely because of the nasty attitude and comments I received. I'm glad you commented so everyone can see how you speak to customers saying "you are not welcome here." The entire visit I was very nice and trying to not show I was not happy with the outcome. That is NOT how you speak to customers, especially when I didn't say a single mean/negative thing to you. You just weren't happy with the tip (I didnt have to tip at all!). Hard-working or not, terrible...
Read moreAmazing hair stylist. I got a perm and a haircut and she did it perfectly and was very attentive.
I had made an appointment for 1pm. When I first arrived, the hair stylist immediately greeted me and there was no wait. She was welcoming and friendly.
I wanted my hair short and she made sure multiple times throughout the process that I was okay with the look. She first cut my hair a little bit before putting in the perm rods.
I had hair that was pretty short so it was really difficult to put in the rods. But, she was able to do it regardless of the length and was very knowledgeable. She explained what she was doing throughout the whole process.
Then, she put in the softener and perm solution and we waited. My hair was like virgin hair so a softener was necessary but when I had gotten a perm somewhere else, they had skipped this step. I'm glad that she knew to use this.
She made me feel comfortable even though we had to wait 40 minutes for the perm to be completed. I wasn't nervous because she seemed very knowledgeable. She didn't use the stronger solution because she was worried it would be too strong. She was right to go with the lesser strength solution and there was little hair damage.
When the perm was out, I was really scared because it was so curly. So, I panicked and didn't let her cut my hair. Keep in mind, I had never gotten a perm before so I was unprepared for the amount of nice curls I got. So I went home and immediately washed it. This ruined my hair. I wanted to cry because of how frizzy my hair was after I washed it.
But, she was super helpful and understanding. She listened to my problem and told me to come back to the salon the same day. She helped me fix my hair and my hair looked much better. She even taught me how to style it.
I love my haircut now and I couldn't rave more about it. It compliments my features well and I am so happy with how it turned out.
Definitely would go here again. I would recommend anyone who wants an attentive and skilled hair stylist to go here. She's honestly one of the nicest and best hair...
Read moreShort answer first- I was incredibly pleased and happy with the service I got and recommend others. If you are expecting a full franchise-esk salon feeling where you pay for the atmosphere, that's not here. It is a small privately owned place
The story- I just got a "simple" mens hair cut down based on an older picture of myself and the stylist butchered it and I looked like Johnny Depp's version of Willy Wonka. I immediately went looking for somewhere else to try to fix it and ran upon Elements. I showed the same picture to Kevin, he stared at it for about 5 seconds and hes "got it"...I did not think or have any confidence in him "having it" but I figured at this point I already had 6 inches cut off and if it goes bad, I could just shave it for the first time.
He did a splendid job! He was relatively quick and did a great scissor cut for me and I walked out feeling far better. Looking for somewhere new, come check...
