DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT! A very frustrated mom who can’t even begin to explain how devastated I am. They cancelled my 5yr old kid birthday party 3 days before the party!! (read below for details).
My son was supposed to have a birthday celebration at Surge Adventure in Edmond this upcoming Sunday April 6th. On Thursday April 3th I reached out to them to confirm the number of kids attending – on a previous conversation they had told me I had until the day before the party to do so.. While on the phone with them the lady I was talking to explained that I had until the week before to make any changes, I told her that was not what was told to me when booking the party. She put me on hold multiple times to speak to the manager and I ended up telling her I would just go up there later that night to speak to the manager.
The manager at that location later on called me to “offer” a room for my party size that was going to cost basically the same as what we had book for double the kids. I told the manager he must had seen my stupid face and I once again told him I was going to go up there later that night to speak to him personally and see the options they had available.
He hangs up and immediately sends me a “confirmation email” with all their “stipulations” (any changes have to be made a week prior). My response to that email was the following: “Funny how today, after my call, you guys want to send the reminder with the “stipulations in there”.. – EXTREMELY SHADY BUSINESS. But thank you for the reminder! See y’all soon!”
Prior to this email I had 0 communication with them besides my phone calls to book and that day to confirm the birthday party.
A second manager – one that is above the previous - calls me to tell me they are CANCELING MY SON’S BIRTHDAY PARTY because they did not like my email. Apparently, they decided I was a “threat to the community” and needed to cancel for “safety” reasons! Not only that, but they claimed they were going to make things “easier” and were doing me a favor by refunding my deposit so I would not leave a bad review. To which I responded I was going to leave a VERY BAD review and she was not making things easier but instead harder.. I now have to explain to my 5yr old he will not have a birthday party because these people decided to act a certain way.
What these people don’t know is that my son and I are in this country alone. All of our family is somewhere else (yes, my choice due to my job) but his birthday party is all he looks forward to ALL YEAR LONG. That is the only time we get to spend around more people than just “his mom” and he talks about it all year round..
So SURGE ADVENTURE IN EDMOND, THANK YOU FOR DESTROYING A KIDS DREAM!
DO NOT do business with them, read all the other bad reviews people post.. management has clearly been an issue for some time now.. I even asked to speak to the owner and they did not want to provide that...
Read moreDon't go here because they refuse to close a pit after blood contamination. Today was the first and last time I would let my kids play at this adventure park. While I was supervising my kids, a man came to me saying a kid was stuck. I looked over and saw a boy with his leg stuck in between two foam pits, so we both jumped into action to help him free. When I reached down to feel his leg, I felt something wet and Gooey almost like slime. I pulled my hand out, realizing it was blood, lots of it. I showed my hand to the man helping and got out of the pit to go to the other side to hold pressure on the wound better. I yelled for help and waved down the teen, supervising the zip line. He came to try to help. I showed him my bloody hand and said he didn't know trying to keep the kid from panicking. The teen worker was the only worker who helped us. Dad showed up and asked him how this happened. The kid replied, saying he was trying to get out and he slipped. I asked him are you dad and he said he was at this time I showed him my bloody hand and said he didn't know. Dad tried to keep the kid calm. I told the worker to call 911. The man who called this to my attention and his brother, the kid's Dad, and the teen worker all attempted to pull back on the beam, and it wasn't budging. So Dad runs to get tools to pry his kids' leg free. He comes back with two long screwdrivers, a hammer and rakes. Nothing was budging. I realized that the padding was held on by velcro and started pulling it up frantically and told the others to do the same. The Dad was finally able to pull his son free, and that's when the kid realized he was bleeding. Dad holds the kid's leg up so the boy won't see. Dad ran out of the pit so fast. I looked at my bloody hands from keeping pressure on the kid's leg and it was covered I got out of the pit and I must have wiped the blood off on the foam cubes because it wasn't as bloody. I look for the kid and his dad to see dad holding the boy and running to the door. I knew that I did all I could, so now I need to wash my hands. After washing, I went to the workers by the pit to tell them they should close the pit because I had bloody hands and the pit was contaminated. They asked me if I was mom, and do they still needed to call 911. I told them to call, and they said they did but they did not. They also didn't close the contaminated pit. This place is incompetent. I will never return! I truly hope the kid is all right. Thank God for the man who brought this to my attention and his brother they did an amazing job trying to...
Read moreIt’s okay and decent for this type of indoor play place, but service leaves something to be desired.
Checkin: We came in behind a couple with a bunch of kids that looked like an unofficial bday party. The wait was long given only one person was checking in even though there were multiple people up front.
Waiver (Checkin saga cont.): I was told I had to fill out a waiver even though I was just there to hang out for the kids. To there credit they gave the kids their bands and let them go play but I was directed to some laptops upfront for the waiver. All but one were broken and I was still behind that large party (joy of life). I caved and went to ask if anyone could get any of the others working and/or was the waiver really needed. I got the suggestion to go to the site on my phone to fill it out. OMG the amount of personal information (eg dob, address, phone, etc) for a liability waiver even though I fail to see the possible liability in sitting while the kids play.
Staff: There are plenty for a Saturday, but they all seem to be chilling more than working. By that I mean in lieu of spreading out they kind of hang out in groups of 2 or more and chill. I’m staring at a self managed big diving board into the foam pit getting judgy. Again, plenty of staff just seems to be lacking good management.
Seating: They have some decent seating up on the play area which are basic futons. Yet, everything on the ground level is a basic bench with no back. I asked some staff if there was anything I was missing so I could sit and read while the kids played and they said no. Of course if your kids get a drink than the drinks cannot sit by at the futons and you’re cursed to the bench. Dang those icees and the 2hr passes I just bought for the kids!
Shoes: I was up on top initially trying to score a futon and I was told I couldn’t wear my sandals. Then I was told I couldn’t walk around barefoot either. To their credit they gave me a complimentary pair of socks.
So in hindsight: -Fill out waivers beforehand even if your kid replaces you with a friend -Bring socks -Glare at your kids when they ask for a drink, spread out your time passes with a quick chic fil a run, and/or be bold and try to sneak in a camping chair. -Keep an eye on them at certain areas and don’t assume someone is monitoring...
