My family is fans of Thai & Japanese Cuisine Restaurants, so hearing that Thai Delight served both cuisines, we just had to try it! We arrived into Thai Delight in mid-afternoon, so it was no surprise that there wasn't a lot of people in the restaurant. We were greeted warmly by the staff and sushi chef (the sushi bar is really close to the entrance), and was seated promptly.
Thai Delight's menu is actually quite impressive! They seriously have a variety of items for multiple preferences: fried rice, Thai food, noodles, sushi, Japanese food, and more. We decided that we would try a variety of the items to really get a sense of what they had to offer.
Our waitress came by, and while she was not "Ms. Personality" she was straightforward (in the non-abrasive sort of way) and efficient. We ordered Thai Tea, Miso Soup, Volcano Sushi Roll, Seafood Basil, Tofu Pad Thai, and Pork Tonkatsu; two of the orders came with ginger salad as well.
For the side dishes and drinks; the ginger salad had crisp leaves and a great sauce; the Thai Tea could have been more infused with the cardamom tea leaves, but was still enjoyable and creamy; the miso soup surprisingly had a lot of flavor in it.
For the main dishes, it was decent overall. The Seafood Basil and the Pork Tonkatsu were "OK" in my opinion; the seafood dish tasted like they were a little freezer burnt (like the taste of seafood medley, which can be good if prepared right away) and the only flavors I really tasted was from the sauce and not necessarily the seafood or herbs; and the Pork Tonkatsu was not what I expected (I thought it was a little dry and that they were a little zealous with the sauce), but fortunately, my husband is a big sauce type of man, so he devoured this dish quite easily. And last (but not least), the Volcano Roll; this was an explosion (almost literally) of flavor in our mouths. It was freshly fried and actually very delicious. We really enjoyed the flavors of it, and if you are a Cooked Sushi Roll fan (or just want ease into sushi), I highly suggest this place since they had a variety of lovely cooked rolls!
While Thai Delight can be a little pricey in the end, their items are actually pretty affordable for Thai food and, I believe, appropriately priced. Towards the end of our dinner, we were approaching 6pm and more parties were piling in, so it's definitely a popular spot. If you haven't tried Thai Delight, I recommend it, especially if you are interested in their cooked...
Read morethe atmosphere here is excellent. the seating and decor is one of a kind in the area. there also happens to be a pianist playing the piano while you eat. the ambiance is absolutely wonderful here especially for someone that works at a loud industrial environment this is a great reprieve. i also happen to be a former restaurant server. i tipped 25% after my meal with my significant other because the place was a good reprieve after work. the female server on july 18th during the evening hours was absolutely the worst server i experienced in OKC and i reiterate that i am a former server. she did not face us while dropping off our utensils she practically tossed it on the table while facing away then running off. she also took my plate away with 10 seconds of me taking my last bite with a condescending remark of “yay you did it!” this was a suggestion by my love and her experience mattered more and she was happy after the meal but personally i really disliked how rushed this server made me feel and if i gave this type of service as she did to me i would have been doing so out of complete disregard or out of spite. i wont be returning to this location but refer to the photos the atmosphere here is stunning but the service is not. i ordered the sashimi and sushi bento box and the server asked if raw fish is ok as if i didnt know what sashimi is; i am asian and so was the server but maybe in her culture, most people dont know what sashimi is? i happen to be korean and our culture has our own sashimi similar to japanese but different in presentation. so this server was all around throwing weird shade at me and i think from personal experience she had a problem with me. i hope she enjoys her tip because she wont get another tip from me again and i will make any excuse not to come here with mi marida. excluding that server i thank the restaurant for a good dinner...
Read moreSo... I have been to this restaurant about 15-20 times. I usually only get Chicken Fried Rice 99% of the time I eat Thai. (That doesn't mean I don't try a bunch of the dishes, that is what having a wife is for!).
First I will start with the Fried Rice. I will say that the regular fried rice dish is about a 6 out of 10 compared to most other good Thai places I eat at.. Because of this I would only opt to go to Thai Delight when the wife wanted to go, otherwise I would choose a different place. Well to my Delight(pun intended), I found out what I was missing. ORDERING SPICY FRIED RICE. Apparently the flavor I am used to is in the Thai Chilli Paste that is put in their spicy rice version. (Also includes basil and some other great additions). I never really looked at this until the last time I was dining in recently. This is where reading comprehension is important which is something I apparently lack. (I also put IKEA items together without reading instructions)
The Spicy Rice dish is a 9 out of 10. I like it so much now that I will drive 5 miles further past my other normal Thai place to get take-out from here. Thanks for having that awesome authentic Thai Flavor!
Other dishes - Cashew chicken 8.5 out of 10 - Volcano Chicken 9 out of 10.
Love this place, the ONLY thing that would make it better is having a fountain drink dispenser. Drinking out of non refrigerated cans of soda is terrible. (At least their water is...
