Would not recommend living here…. When I first moved in. I tried to move out not even three days later. It’s my first apartment. School was starting and I’m having mental breakdowns because of how poorly kept this place is. I got all of my boxes put in my room and turns out no inspections were done. The living room wall had quarter sized holes. With dirt rings around them. Dirt covered the walls and windows and baseboards. Bugs were crawling throughout kitchen cabinets, windows, inside the fridge. The kitchen sink and shower head was so calcified it should’ve been considered a hazard (replaced them right away). So with how upset we were about the living situation. I decided to stay at home and just drive up for a couple days. The next day I come into my apartment and there were colonies and I mean colonies of ant crawling within my closet and throughout the room. I had to take my clothes home and rewash every item I had. My family and I spent our entire move in and the next two weeks cleaning the apartment to make it how an apartment should look. And I now have to mop and vacuum twice a week with solution to keep bugs and pest away. My kitchen counters get wiped down every day. And I inspect kitchen cabinets anytime they are opened. What was supposed to be a joyful and momental experience turned into hell. We had arguments with management over the roommate having a bunny and letting it poop throughout the apartment, living conditions, bugs, etc. City inspector was called out three times to put a stop to the nonchalant management. Dishwasher was full of mold (also luckily had gotten replaced right after). I have just moved in during August and I don’t plan on staying here after this lease is up. Here it is winter and I moved in during August. I still have problems with spiders even living on the third floor. None of the floor are properly sealed/installed. The door is not properly sealed. I have problems with the air just smelling like something rotten even though I have had filters replaced. Another issue is parking… you pay $75 for a parking fee only to have the entire two rows of parking be reserved spots. When I first moved in my mom asked if we can get a reserved spot because I work late hours and I am a girl. Management told us it was not possible and that they had no more. The next day we see them freshly paint more spots. I should not have to pay for parking only to have to park in the front of the building and still having to park in reserved because there are legit no other empty spots, to walk all the way to the back of the complex to reach my apartment. My friends live in other complexes and had absolutely no problems. This place is seriously outdated, they need to either make a choice lower the rent or renovate your apartments. They are able to afford a brand new renovated clubhouse compared to actually being renovating what needs to be renovated. It is sad to see that people can just become money hungry and not care or respect college students living situations. Just because we are college students does not mean we like to live in a pig pen. SIUE’s dorms we’re nicer than living situations here… not to mention cheaper. I would rather pay for reserves or parcs rent because you actually get what you pay for there. I paid for parking and barely even get that. I have read other reviews… managements only replies with “we’re so sorry about your experience” and “please contact us to discuss issues”. No effort or initiative is actually being taken to improve quality of living here. So I hope this review finds someone who might consider living here and I hope you take this review seriously and take it into consideration. My advice: really explore your options. I know it can be stressful but other places will have better living and experiences which will in the long run cause you...
Read moreHere's a deconstruction of the amenities on their website. Enjoy: All inclusive pricing - except for if you go over the $40/person electricity rate, which you almost certainly will. Enjoy the all-inclusive pricing which arbitrarily does not include whatever they want. Vinyl-Plank Flooring – only in the common areas. the bedrooms are fully carpeted. This bulletpoint is just false advertising. Tour first, kids. Granite Countertops - that are covered with ants, spiders, and flies due to their lack of pest control. I was told, "You found ants in your apartment and want them out immediately?" like I was the crazy one. Fully Equipped Kitchens - with dishwashers that allegedly, in other units, even grow mold! How fun! In-Home Washer & Dryer - that will run up your electricity bill as they charge you for six months of electricity overage at once Desk in Each Bedroom – "private" bedrooms that maintenance can enter and leave as they please during reasonable hours, which is really just about any time, according to your lease! They don't even have to tell you beforehand. I was walked in on while in my bed in my undergarments – you too can enjoy this at the Social Edwardsville!
They also are off on Sundays. If you have any issues on Sundays, that's tough, because they have the day off, and they'll tell you that and to file a complaint. I've had complaints "filed" that they never followed up on, though, so good luck!
There are SOME good things about living here – the location is good and the apartments are furnished. Just be prepared to spend around $800/month for everything listed above. It's super loud, too, since it's a lot of sorority-fraternity living. The Assistant Manager, Kim, has been seriously great, but the landlord/company is absolutely just in it for money. They do not care about their residents if they aren't...
Read moreMoving to this location has been a complete nightmare. For fellow Black individuals considering this area, I strongly suggest exploring alternative rental options nearby due to the concerning racist behavior displayed by the staff. It appears they unfairly target specific tenants. Despite never personally inspecting the apartments before relocating to Edwardsville, I now realize the significance of physical property tour and fake reviews. It seems management manipulates tenant experiences to garner positive feedback. The state of the apartments is deplorable; they are dirty and poorly maintained, prompting questions about the allocation of rent funds. From dealing with a psychotic and immature roommate to others who can validate the dysfunction. The presence of mold and unaddressed damages upon move-in only exacerbate the discomfort. Recently, I've noticed management scrutinizing my actions closely, and it's making me wonder if they're equally critical of tenants with a lighter complexion. I can't shake the feeling that I'm being singled out and targeted. As a Black woman, I do not feel safe or protected. "I want to share my experience with these apartments, not to seek sympathy, but to offer a heads-up to others who may be considering moving in. Before I moved in, I wish I had someone who could have given me some insight into what to expect. So here's my honest review."
Update: Since moving in February, I've noticed these spots. Initially, I thought it was just a stain, but they've been growing, and upon closer inspection, it's clear they're mold spores spreading across the carpet in my room. It's unsettling and makes me feel sick. This place is...
