This business owner is racist, and he couldn't care less about marginalizing and abusing the rights of the residents in this community for personal gain. No one from this street and this community is supporting this business. This business is exploiting the laws and our legal rights to enjoy our homes. SkateBird Miami could not care less about the so called "community".
There are no licenses that allow SkateBird Miami to blast music. The permit is just valid for the "special event" and does not provide "music BLASTING powers".
This is a residential neighborhood, this street is not designed to host hundreds of illegally parked and moving cars. Hundreds of people attending the events leave rubbish that neither this business nor El Portal Village picks up. This business has brought crime into the community. Theft, fights, even with weapons, people selling and using drugs on the sidewalks, people drinking alcohol and loitering late at night before and after the events.
RATHER THAN ENFORCING THE ORDINANCE ABOUT NOISE, DRUGS, OPEN CONTAINERS, AND PARKING ON 83RD ST, Christia E Alou Esq Village Manager Village of El Portal WOULD COLLECT A "SPECIAL PERMITS" FEE in total disregard of Village of El Portal Code of Ordinances, Section 13-2- Prohibited Acts.
Christia E Alou Esq Village Manager of El Portal prevents Village police from using devices to verify decibel levels and prevents the Village Code Compliance from being present during the "events" and using such instruments for noise compliance.
The business SkateBird Miami has hired up to 5 police officers from El Portal police to work privately for the business. The residents complaints to the police on duty are disregarded. There is an obvious conflict of interest.
The business SkateBird Miami on 83rd street has no regard for the people who live here. Residents are bombarded with loud music at all hours of the night, including 1 am. The business owner, Jonathan Strauss, has misled the municipality and the residents about the intended use of the space, and he is now violating noise ordinances and making life impossible for all of us. He never disclosed that they would have stadium concert type of loud music.
The noise from SkateBird Miami is having a serious impact on our health and well-being. It is disrupting our sleep, causing stress, and making it difficult to enjoy our homes. We are also concerned about the impact of the noise on the children who live in the neighborhood.
The business owner has refused to install noise barriers, and he has continued to blast music at all hours of the night. We are at our wit's end, and we are ready for legal action.
We urge everyone to stop supporting this business until the noise levels are brought down to a legal level. We also urge the Village of El Portal to take action to enforce the noise ordinances and protect the residents of this neighborhood.
The negative impact of noise on people is well-documented. Noise can cause sleep deprivation, stress, anxiety, high blood pressure, and even heart disease. It can also make it difficult to concentrate and learn. In children, noise can lead to behavioral problems and learning difficulties.
The business on our street is creating a public health hazard. The noise levels are simply too high, and they are having a serious impact on our health and well-being.
Racist and discriminatory. SkateBird Miami and the landlord are violating the civil rights of the renters next door. The landlord is a slumlord with excessive rents and unsanitary living conditions. This business's loud music is fully and illegally invading their homes, infringing on both their legal rights and all applicable local, county, state, and federal noise regulations. Experience it for yourself during the "events". Residents are unable to appreciate their homes because of the loud music.

Read moreToday I visited Skatebird Skate Park and I was really blown away by everything it had to offer. Off the rip I met a very nice and welcoming staff member up front. I told them I was a visitor from Worcester, Ma and so she gave me a tour of the entire park. I had seen various videos from YouTubers and professional inline skaters on IG at this park, and since I was down here to visit family, I had to come check it out. I got there as soon as the park was opened and I saw staff there getting ready for the day and making sure that everything was nice , clean and ready for the day. This place is amazing and includes rentals for new comers along with a couple of small skate shops for both skateboarders and In-line skaters. There was a very small Bodega where I met Larry! Dude was the man and grilled me a hot dog and talked anime and music with me. He sold everything from drinks, snacks, ice cream, and sneakers. I was able to buy a new skate bag and gear from one of the shops there. I met some great amazing and nice people who were very encouraging. After being there for 6 hours, I ended my session with an ice cold beer from the bar and some food from the food truck where the homie no lie made the best food I had during my visit in Miami. I can’t believe this place really exists. 10/10 so dope and anytime I come to Miami this will be a spot I have to stop at. Everybody come here or you’re messin...
Read moreI’m the parent of a young skater and we literally go from park to park looking for new adventures. SkateBird opened less than a mile from my house and I was in awe. The facility is truly a beauty to behold and the concept is brilliant. The owner really curated a space that is safe, and efficient. A perfect balance between pleasure and business. Part skate park part small business hub the design appeals to skaters and non skaters alike. It features a covered spectator area, art murals on every wall, shops, merch, food, and a “you’re home when you’re here” vibe. As a parent, a cool hangout to watch is essential. The staff and management are really some of the coolest people on earth. The shop owners are like extensions of the family.
My daughter signed up for the summer camp and it’s the happiest I’ve seen her… ever! The staff is amazing!!! And what she learned in a week was simply mind blowing. From safety, to history, to education, they covered it all. Photography, water days, arts and crafts and team sports were also included in their week. The kind of programming and effort that makes it all worth it.
I highly suggest a visit and if you have a little one, invest in camp. You won’t regret...
