Our first trip to the Elgin market today. What a treat!

Festival atmosphere with live music, friendly leashed dogs, and special activities for children (including live snakes to hold!). Vendors were friendly, personable, and helpful.

We had no idea there would be such diverse booths, too. Today we supported local organic farms, taking home very affordable lettuce mix, chard, and radishes. My husband couldn't resist trying the caramel pecan cheesecake, of which he ate every bite.

Parking is a breeze, given the free public lots. And we made it a full afternoon by eating at a downtown restaurant while...

Just an okay Farmers Market. Not a lot of vendors, at least not when I stopped by around 5 ish pm. Lots had already packed and left or were getting ready to leave, even though it runs through 7pm. The live music was a good touch! Frank Liston is a great acoustic performer!

3-7pm is an interesting time for a farmers market though, why not Saturday or Sunday morning? The last thing I'm thinking about after work is trying to make it to the farmers market haha.
