My husband and I got married at The Hemmen's and it was by far one of the best days of our lives thus far! We got married on stage followed by cocktail hour out in the lobby. Then the stage was transformed into the reception area for dinner and dancing! Not only was the venue breathtakingly beautiful, but the staff made the entire experience (from planning to reception) stress free. The staff at The Hemmen's were accommodating, professional, creative and kind. They utilized their expertise in the theatre/performance field, but also incorporated our ideas and feedback to create a wedding that completely fit our personalities. Great Star Wars concert on the 31st!! Which was not as enjoyable as it could have been due to the people coming and going, in and out without regard for the interruptions during the performance. It used to be that you had to wait until the end of a piece or the intermission to be allowed entrance. One family came in 45 mins late and then had the b___s to leave before the end. When did the ushers start letting you come and go willy nilly??? Also, you can bring your drinks into the venue??? One of the many people that traipsed over me spilled one of her TWO wines on my foot. Very disappointing experience! Not sure if I'll be back if these are the new rules to spoil the...

Great to be back at The Hemmens for the Elgin Symphony season opener!
This is such a nice venue. Great acoustics and good lighting, so every seat is a good one. We've come here for years to the ESO concerts and it's always been very clean. Seats are fairly comfortable and spacious (tight for tall people, but not more than other venues). Parking is handy to north and east, with lots of nearby handicapped parking for these events.
The bigger issues with the facility, including lack of accessible way to reach balcony and lack of restrooms on main floor, will be addressed by the proposed renovations. Let's hope those move forward to make this a 5-star community...
