I guess I’ll start with how my families lovely idea of a nice 2 hour railroad trip went from really great to really bad. My sister has been long wanting to do something like this with me and my mother so we finally all had time and we ventured up to the Durbin station. We got there about 10 minutes early as the website requested, we walked onto where the train loading was happening and we began to talk to one of the staff for the railroad, he was a very nice and professional man he took our tickets and after double checking one moment we were cleared. So he then on goes to further our experience by telling us where all the good viewings are and on what side. Then he proceeds to helping other people in a good manner such us, then once all of us are loaded on the train it’s about 10 minutes after when they say we’re waiting for a bus group because of someone above them made that decision. Everyone was fine with it until another 40-45 minutes passed and they finally arrived after making everyone wait. While that was a bad start, then we were moving! A nice two hour trip was what it was suppose to be, sadly because of one bus group had reservations for food somewhere and the other had to go somewhere they decided to not take us the entire way and our whole experience was almost just as long as the wait we had. The staff on site was excellent and very nice again I will say, but the higher ups need to start thinking about quality experience instead of wasting other people’s time...
Read moreGreat day trip. My wife and I took the four hour trip up to the falls. Beautiful ride up the mountain and back. Pay the extra for the Parlor Car!!! Best views in the whole train. If you are lucky enough to get table 1 or 2 you're going to have the best views even in the Parlor car. We got table 2. Super cool going through the tunnel. The Parlor car has its own lunch buffet and table service. Soft drinks are included, and the lunch consists of cold cuts and a salad. Not great, but not bad. Best part was the non-stop Arnold Palmers and the dessert on the way back down. We had chocolate cheesecake and strawberry shortcake on our trip. Gorgeous views from the train and the falls were awesome. If you're on the Parlor Car you can access all the rest of the cars, and it is fun to walk through while it is rolling...
Read moreThe train ride was amazing. However, the online scheduling leaves a bit to be desired. There are arrows that indicate which direction the train will be facing forward for people who suffer with motion sickness. Unfortunately, that information is BOGUS! The train goes up the hill on the tracks and back down the hill on the same tracks so if you are facing forward going up, you will be backwards coming down. Also, one side of the train sees a great view of the river and campgrounds along the route while the other side sees a hill with trees. If you are traveling in a group of 4, I suggest sitting in pairs across the aisle so you can switch seats allowing both pairs to have the window view. If there are only 2 of you, I’d suggest calling to ask which side of the train would be the better view. The falls...
