Highlights of the hotel: Great Breakfast Food & Service Clean Room Lounge area with another large screen tv in our hotel room Beautiful View of Mountains at Hotel Entrance Great prices for IHG members The low points: The bathroom in our hotel room scent was repelling - smell of perspiration body odor and sewer. Being able to hear conversations outside of our hotel windows since we were located near outdoor pool & eating area. Overall, our two day stay here was satisfactory yet the repelling scent of our hotel bathroom was strange and difficult to ignore. We picked this hotel since it was the closest IHG hotel near Parsons, WV where we were attending a powwow event.

I stayed here because it was 5 min from the location I was going to. The front desk was not welcoming when we arrived. The bathroom looked like thy had tried cleaning it minutes before our arrival, there was hair on the floor, shower had mildew, toilet seat had cracked areas which could either cut someone or hold bodily fluids which is not only hazardous but also disgusting. We also found part of a protection wrapper on the floor by our bed. Breakfast was not good either. I really wish it would’ve been a better experience because I will be in the area more often.

There was a carnival going on 50 yards from my window that was so loud I couldn’t even hear the TV. Something was biting me while I was sleeping, and I woke up to find bedbugs. When I told the woman at the front desk about the bedbugs at checkout, she just said “sorry about that” and didn’t offer a refund. Also, a little bit of mold in the shower. Won’t be back.

We were happy with our stay at this motel. We didn't use the pool and spa area, but it looked inviting. The next morning there were a few spots on the tile from the night before but pool looked clean. Our third floor suite was very nice. The room was large. The bathroom was pretty standard but very clean. Just enough towels for two people. If planning on taking more than one shower you may want to ask for more towels. The water pressure in the bathroom was wonderful and always hot water. THe microwave/tv were a little awkard to get used to. THe microwave is on top of the fridge which made a little bit hard to use. I am a little on the short side but I manages to use it with out help. I also couldn't figure out the coffee maker, it wasn't pluged in and it was super tiny. Wasn't thrilled that there wasn't more than one choice for tea just decafee and regular. but there was always plenty of tea and coffee down stairs available. We only stayed one night so we didn't come in contact with many of the staff. The staff we did come across where kind and helpful. There was a slight issue with check in. We did arrive to the area a littler earlier than planed and realized where we too early. We got there at 1:30 check in is at 3. There is a late check out time I can understand that was why the room wasn't finished. We walked around town and came back at almost three and realized the room had just been cleaned as we walked into it. We really were not given any other options as to wait, or anything. We just walked around and got a late lunch early dinner. We also offered to pay in cash for room instead of putting it on card and we were told she would have to charge 250 and then give a refund when we checked out. So we just put it on card and paid in cash as we left. Please make sure to eat breakfast in the great room, A lot of food options for everyone. cereal and hot food. IT was all very good. I am always not happy when I realize there is no soy milk or alternative milk choices. but that's pretty common maybe something they could look into. Also bottled water would be nice in cooler for breakfast though I do think there was some water in the juice machine. THe room was very quiet, and comfortable. THe couch was a little worn. The carpet could stand a deep clean but was otherwise clean. THe only noise was door slaming at night and in the morning as people went to get breakfast. This motel is right in the heart of the city. The train depot is right in front and the music venue is a well. There is a short walk to everything in this area. This still ends up being a quiet place to be on...

We have stayed at many HIX during our trips to the US, but this must be one of the worst experiences we have had. It was like there had been some kind of mutiny and a bunch of strangers had taken over the hotel.||To take the good things first, the hotel is very centrally located downtown, which is unusual for this brand of hotel, so it's within easy walkable distance of all shops and restaurants. There is also free parking.||So for the other issues.. When we arrived in the lobby it was so dark that we actually thought that the power was gone. When we in addition found three guys at the front desk hanging over a computer, we definitely thought that something was wrong, but apparently not. They were not so interested in us though, so I think were were standing there for almost a minutes before one of them pushed a form our way and asked for the name and told us to fill out the registration form. No welcome, no smiles, no member-acknowledgement, no information. ||They had however posted a note on the desk saying that the pool was closed (probably tired of all the questions), but they had no idea when it would open again. Given that we booked this hotel, mainly because of us wanting a pool for our child, that was a huge letdown. When you have notes posted and there's and unkown opening date, that is something you also pos ton your website. In this case I also called the day before to add my kid to the reservation, which would be a great opportunity for them to also inform about the closed pool (kids tend to like pools).||We had a suite which were your typical room, nothing special either way. When we went out for the evening, we again realized how obvious the lack of management were. We usually use stairs rather then the elevator and when doing so we realized that ALL fire doors were left open. Not on accident, but on purpose. How is that even possible? ||For breakfast we were again wondering how staffing was done there. Some guy went around in a hoodie and a cap, seemingly very confused about everything, and although he didn't do anything wrong, that's not something you expect from a professional hotel. Actually I don't think any of the staff we met had uniforms. ||All in all this was an extremely disappointing experience, so some grown-ups needs to...

Dear IHG,

I just returned from a ski vacation in WV where the on mountain resort was booked, so I booked the closest accommodations that had a familiar and known Name, Holiday Inn Express.

I had my children and my niece and nephew; my husband was working.

First and foremost, the concierge at the front desk on Friday evening, when we checked in, was a gentleman by the name of Dylan. He was extremely solicitous, and friendly! He actually offered to make a dinner reservation for us at Vintage and we loved it!

Then, the next am, we wanted to go somewhere local for breakfast and the 2 Concierges at the desk recommended a local breakfast place, where everything is homemade, called Scotty's.

Yet again, it was lovely. The owners couldn't have been more friendly.

In the middle of breakfast, the restaurant's phone rang and it was for ME.

It was the concierge at the Holiday Inn calling to say that my nephew had left his phone there!

Again, we were completely taken aback by their kindness.

So, we just want you to know that your hotel staff was absolutely top shelf, so friendly American and delivered 1st class Customer Service.

Next, we want you to know that the room and bathroom was IMMACULATELY CLEAN, the importance of which cannot be overstated.

Just 2 quick critiques:

There were makeup wipes in the bathroom, which was lovely, but I would have seriously preferred a shower cap, as I think most women with long or medium length, would have.

The faucet in the sink is far too close to the sink, so that when you are washing your hands, you cannot avoid scrubbing them along the wall of the sink, which obviously, defeats the purpose.

Everything was...
