Thank you Anicira for providing care for my sweet little bulldog. You were able to perform the life-saving surgery that he needed, despite other vets quoting me prices ranging from $3,000 to $10,000, and they never gave me a definite price - all I got was the runaround. I was in tears by the end of the night going from vet to vet to figure how I was going to navigate this and afford it. It was heartbreaking because the poor little guy needed medical help ASAP. Thank god I found Anicira. They emailed a price with a follow-up call within 10 minutes along with a surgery date. I appreciate there honesty and fairness. You don’t seem to find that anywhere anymore. The surgery was $1,034 that is a huge difference in price from what I was quoted with 2 other vets. We adopted him a week prior from a local shelter. From the looks of him, the poor little guy has been through a lot. Thank you Dr. Oelstrom and Sarah for giving Cooper and I’m sure many, many dogs a second chance at life. We will forever be grateful for your kindness. God bless.
Follow-Up Review: August 25, 2024
Several months ago, I brought my newly adopted bulldog, Cooper, to the clinic for prolapse surgery. Due to my lack of medical expertise, I harbored concerns regarding a potential recurrence of the condition and subsequently emailed photographs to the clinic, as I reside approximately 2.5 hours away. The condition appeared to fluctuate; on some days, it appeared normal, while on others, it raised concerns. However, I acknowledge that I tend to be overly anxious regarding such matters.
Despite these concerns, a follow-up surgery was scheduled. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Oelstrom conducted an examination and determined that Cooper was not experiencing any complications; rather, he was simply taking longer to heal. She advised against performing an additional surgery to mitigate the risk of scar tissue formation and potential urination issues.
I greatly appreciate her honesty and the affordability of their services. In contrast to other veterinarians who initially diagnosed him and provided inconsistent information, Anicira Veterinary Center was transparent, forthright, and provided a quote within ten minutes.
I am pleased to report that my dog, Cooper, is now doing well, and his prolapse appears to be improving significantly each day. In fact, it seems to be completely healed at this point.
Another review: 1/27/2025 I just want to say a huge thank you to Anicira for taking such wonderful care of my Cooper! He needed some dental work and had a few teeth extracted, but he's doing absolutely fabulous now. He really loves the Anicira staff! I'm so grateful for everything you all did for my little guy. Thank you once again for looking...
Read moreI am writing this with authentically no prejudice or malice. This has nothing to do with customer service, this Center did not take necessary care of my dog. I am currently adopting a dog through a Foundation that sets all of the dogs' appointments, there is no choice in the matter, you must go with the flow if you want to adopt fully. At 7am Thursday January 4th, we dropped off our 9 week old puppy for a spay. I was already very uneasy about this, a simple google search shows this was too soon, but again no choice. At 4:30 we picked her up. There was only one person manning the desk, responsible for the dismissal paperwork for around 7 different animals at once. She openly said ' pardon me, I'm multitasking', when we asked questions we received brief and opinionated answers. We walked away with a small slip of paper and one prescription bottle for Trazodone. At 6pm, we get home and I immediately try reaching back out. My puppy was obviously in pain, not herself, she couldn't lay down for very long, constantly jetting up. This center closes at 5, they closed 30 minutes after I got my dog. I tried calling ER vets, all of which told me without seeing her data they couldn't make a proper recommendation. All night my husband and I were literally laying on the floor with her trying to calm her, nothing worked. At 7am, I called back. They're closed again. I pressed the appropriate keys to get an emergency line. The woman on the line tells me no doctor is in, she hears i'm very upset and transfers me to another location with a vet available. That vet asks me what medicines she has an I tell her just this one. the doctor says thats weird. but doesn't elaborate. Saying I'm being a needy mom basically and everything sounds stable. At 3pm, The foundation finally gets back in touch, they ask what we have given the dog for the pain. When I say we only have trazodone, they begin to panic. After pushing they finally let us take my puppy to a near by ER. Our dog was given ZERO pain medicine after her surgery for take home care. Trazodone is simply for calming the animal, does nothing for pain. She was suffering all night and all morning. Not only did the vet fail her here, but everyone I spoke to associated with this center failed my dog. She was prescribed THREE drugs at the ER for pain, they said these were normal and they should have been prescribed from the jump. She is finally able to rest after a full 24...
Read moreI wish I could say that I had a great experience, perhaps Timmy would still be with us. It is a nice idea that they are affordable, but they make up for this in volume. The result is that you may not get the personalized care that you might need. My Timmy went in for a cystotomy surgery after spending 3 days at another facility, which cleared the blockage and got his kidneys back and functioning at a healthy rate. The doctor admitted that the surgery didn't go completely as planned, they had to go back into the bladder to remove more stones a 2nd time. This can happen I have been told, some of the stones can be fairly small. I took Tim home that evening and over the next few days he improved, but never fully got his appetite back. I had to feed him mainly a liquid recuperation formula so that he had something in his system. About 10 days after the surgery, he started to act more lethargic again. The next day I called to move up his stitch removal so that they could see what else was going on. I'm not sure what vitals were taken, but they told me that he had a really bad UTI. I am not a doctor, I would not know any better until the next night. So I gave him the antibiotics prescribed and he continued to get more lethargic, I thought it would turn around once the medicine ran its course. The very next night, Tim had blood coming out of his urethra. I took him immediately to a vet emergency room. They told me that he had another blockage, sepsis, and may have had a stroke already as his sodium levels were extremely low. They worked on him for 5 hours keeping him alive, but his temperature remained 92 degrees and his glucose kept crashing. They were also concerned about lasting neurological damage from the stroke. So I made the very difficult decision to stop him from any further pain and anguish. I'm sure that this was a series of bad complications to get to this point, but how none of that was detected the day prior at their facility is something I will be asking myself for years. I'm sure they are great most of the time, unfortunately that was not Timmy and...
