Being a historic Dutch-Way shopper (Schaefferstown) and a resident of Ephrata,I was pleased with the opening of an Ephrata location. With that said, my shopping experiences at the Ephrata location have been subpar in comparison to the Schaefferstown location. Reasons for this statement include: Lack of caring/urgency by staff and management in resolving problems encountered by customers. -consistent failure to rotate/replace outdated stock, ie: Kimchi, egg rolls purchased on 7/27/23 were dated (in small print) use or freeze by 7/27/23. Upon taking product out of my refrigerator on 7/29/23 and discovering the dating, I discarded product. Mislabeling of products on store receipts. When bringing to the attention of the cash register attendent I was told to "foget bout it" the price is correct. When attempting to get this corrected the cash register attendent doesn't get it and becomes arumentative. The dilemma of mislabeling on store receipts has happened numerous times, I like the pretzel rolls sold in the deli but when purchasing it consistently comes up as Krethsmer Ham on my receipt. The one positive I find when shopping at the Ephrata location is the sample lady. This person is quite personable and knowledgeable concerning the product she is peddling that day and goes out of her way to help you any way she can. It's the little things that differentiates a great store from a mediocre store. The Schaefferstown store is a great store and the Ephrata store,...
Read moreI was so excited to hear that Dutch Way was coming to this area. I used to visit the Gap store on occasionally. Everything was immaculate , produce , dairy seafood , ect. Customer service was very friendly and helpful. My only thing was when I went to self checkout the cashier attendant seemed oblivious and she racial profile me. They had a sale on chips which was buy one get one free which didn’t ring up correctly. So she called another associate over which he took care of the matter and told her to take the other item off. I had not put my bank card in to purchase the groceries. But my screen was saying cancellation of EFT(electronic funds transfer) . I asked her why was it saying that if o haven’t put my bank card in . She looked at me and said oh that because we don’t take SNAP and pointed to the sign about the self checkout. I laughed and said I’m paying with a bank card not an EBT card besides I never enter my card. Are you aware what EFT means ? She walked away never apologize for the misunderstanding nor said thank you for shopping and come again like she the young lady behind me . So to my fellow black & brown beware of bliss of ignorance. She needs...
Read moreDutchway consistently delivers fresh meats and seafood while providing an optimal customer service experience in a pristine environment. I have been shopping at the Dutchway in Ephrata since it has opened and have been consistently impressed with the fresh selection of meats and seafood which frequently are on sale. While the selection of items may be more limited and the prices may be higher than some larger, chain grocery stores, I have found that the quality of items and customer service make Dutchway stand above the rest. It is also located conveniently to town which makes it easy to get to without waiting in traffic. There is a particular brand of yogurt/skyr that I eat, and I reached out to Dutchway to see if they would be able to provide/sell it. I received a message that they would order it and even asked which flavors are my favorite. The intentionality to deliver excellent customer service is not unnoticed, and I was so delighted to even get a response! The selection of homemade soups, salads, and meals are both convenient and delicious. I am grateful that they have come to Ephrata and look forward to many years of grocery shopping here...
