The website said it was closed. We didn't have the option to purchase tickets anywhere before coming, it was a wait in line deal. We went because I was told, by a vendor, that they were going to be there, and I would find what I needed. I was told, a week before, at a different craft fair, this vendor was going to be here for this exposition but I was confused since the map app said it was closed, Saturday. I went to the map to see the directions, the app said it might be closed, I took the 'maybe' as they were open, as the vendor said they were going to be there. The parking needs help. The first day, there was noone directing traffic, the second day, I had to 'ask' about placard parking, and back track, but it was out of Respect for the person that I was attempting to park, where I had park the day before, I did apologize for driving 'weird'. The place was great, the expo hall was well set up. The entrance/exit should have some signage about getting a hand stamp for reentry, I'm pretty sure some people walked out and probably had to fight to get back in, we had almost made that mistake but then a guy showed up to check tickets and stamp hands for reentry. We came here two days in a row, the first day was fine, we'd made plans to return the next day and we did. The second day we were there, they were handing out free reusable tote bags, and I was happy that we had shown up that day, but, for a 3 day expo, it seemed disorganized at time. I imagine they know what/how their running things, I just couldn't...
Read moreWent to this venue for my first time just a few days ago to see Neil Young playing with Promise of the Real and Puss'n'Boots. What a beautiful experience! Besides the amazing music - the venue had Professional, courteous, helpful staff. Beautiful grounds. Friendly security. I like that they let you bring in sealed water bottles, or empty ones to refill. Also, I was impressed with the acoustics even though it's outdoors. Excellent sound and view of the stage. Definitely would go again. The only thing that kept me from rating this venue as 5 stars is the restrooms. They could use a serious overhaul. Women were waiting in long lines to get into 3 stall bathrooms that only had one door and were so cramped we had to squeeze past one another to get in and out. Let's get the restroom situation in order, people! That would have minimized a lot of waiting for about half of us ;) Otherwise, it was awesome! Totally recommend coming here for fairs, concerts, or whatever else they have going on. Oh, be aware of humidity during the summer. My word. I was soo grateful I was wearing a bikini top under a thin mesh shirt, or I would have looked like I went swimming up to my armpits! And if you're sun sensitive, they allow parasols on the grounds, but not past security into the grandstands where the stage is. So be...
Read moreI have always loved the atmosphere of fairs/expos and was enjoying my experience at the Champlain Valley Fair until my phone was stolen by one of the carnival employees on Labor Day weekend. I recommend that the Champlain Valley Fair endeavor to work with a carnival/rides company that has honest employees who respect your event and it's customers.
The amusement ride workers were surly in general, and apparently at least one of them is a thief. Strates Shows Inc. had pleasant administrative staff who tried in vain to help me get my phone back from whichever employee took it back to their camper, according to the GPS enabled on my phone, but according to the Find My Phone app, as of this morning, this employee is currently attempting to use my deactivated/locked phone at the Danville County Fair in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Good luck to the unsuspecting folks attending that fair!
Champlain Valley Fair - look for another vendor for the carnival (amusement rides, concessions, game stands, etc)! Strates Shows Inc employees clearly don't respect your event or those who pay (a lot - this is not a cheap activity $$$) to attend and enjoy it...
