My favorite place to shop. I look and see if there's something I want, like or need and buy it. If there isn't, I window shop and l leave. A one shop stop! It's nice to look around. I once paid $2.00 for a lady's watch. It was over $200.00 watch. It buy a lot of jewelry at Goodwill.. .......When my youngest daughter was in middle school, Oak Hill, the kids are from mostly a higher income bracket family. Daughter liked the clothes in style and of course, I heard all the brand names. Everyone had them..heré and every other state! So when I went by Goodwill, I would look in her size for clothes she liked, just like I would at a retail store. I found some, looked them over, if they didn't look new or the accepted worn look, I wouldn't buy them. So she had the going styles: clean, fresh, new, hip and enviably...evidently! Her friends saw her for 3 years at her Middle School wearing her desired style of choice of clothes, mostly all name brands of the rich. My daughter told me, "Mom, the kids think I'm rich because I wear all these name brand clothes." They think we are rich! Nothing could be farther from the truth. I had been a single mother. The truth...I didn't pay a lot for my 3 children's clothes, especially my last child. She enjoyed herself then and still now! You can buy great outfits reasonable there. I have bought many many pieces for myself and they look new ...I don't buy just anything. Most of my house is...
Read moreI can see the Goodwill stores going out of bisiness in the near future, & I hope they do being their prices have risen to accomidate the wealthy that shop there. As leggings are $5.50 you can buy them new at walmart, dollar stores, 5 below exc. for less that are New! T shirts are $4.50 that you can buy new at WalMart, Dollar stores, five below exc. New! Stuffed animals & toys that are dirty or stained are the same price as a retail store listed above. They have things you can find at dollar tree for $3 everything they recieve is donated free to them, the CEO makes over 2million profit a year, and only 1/8 goes to charity. The Goodwill is one of the biggest scams out there, it use to be to help people down and out, now its to accomidate wealthy people, and help the rich owners get richer. So when you donate to the Goodwills keep in mind you are not helping people down and out you are helping the CEO get richer, along with the other big leagues of the company, while they pay employee's very poorly, and the poor can't afford their prices. If you want to donate I would donate to St. Vincent, or other stores that are REAL charities, instead of accomidating the wealthy, and putting millions in the...
Read moreMoved away to Tennessee 12 years ago and moved back to Evansville someyears ago. I had remembered this goodwill was a well stocked store with good prices and everything was mostly neately shelved and categorized and priced like i remembered goodwill stores are supposed to be. My Grandson came to visit with me last week and we decided to go shopping goodwill stores near me. We walked into this outlet and I was totally horrified! Dirty clothes, broken scattered items, crockery. Things strewn about in huge bins like hog feeding stations. Im so disheartened and disappointed in the way this store is furbished and organized. Besides seeing the outragous way you pay to dump your purcases in a bin to pay by the pound! If this is the future of the goodwills of today, i will now find better places to donate my gently used items and find other thrift outlets that appreciate their customers to purchase from. This was a terrible experience and nearly broke my heart. I remembered this goodwill as a really nice place and now it's like a dump pit for making money off of totally free items people donated from the goodness of their hearts...
