Beautiful park. It's definitely worth a visit. Nice place to explore Mobile Bay from the east side. There are plenty of picnic tables with grills, a few gazebos that are covered, and about half a mile of walkable beaches. Boat ramps, volleyball court on the beach, and a fully functional bathroom. There's also a very nice pier that goes out into the water, and best of all, it is free. There is a restaurant or bar on it. However, it was not open. Upon entering, there is a toll house when heading to the park area. A sign says $20 per car and $5 for walk-ins cash only. However, it was not maned, and I did not see any drop boxes. To be honest, I would not pay $20 to come here for the time that I spent here, which was about an hour. Dogs are not allowed on the beach. There are other areas other than the beach to walk your pup. Keep in mind that this is not deep wat water. You have to go about 30 to 50 feet off the beach for it to go past 3 or 4 feet. The average depth of mobile bay is 10 feet in its entirety, with the deepest being in the shipping channels at about 75 feet. This is also not clear water or semi clear as Orange Beach is. At 20 feet off the beach, the floor will start to feel mushy. There is not a major...
Read moreRecently I just had to get out of my covid-free confinement zone and go see something besides my interior walls. We ended up in Fairhope AL, a gorgeous little commonwealth city in Southern Baldwin County. I practice Real Estate in AL, so I know a fair bit about Fairhope. This waterfront park has always intrigued me. Tho locals treat it like their personal back yard and tend a beautiful rose garden around the parking lot. It has a long shore line where you may enjoy a picnic, a dip in Mobile Bay or a nice long walk, launch a kayak or other watercraft. There are Public restrooms that are remarkably clean and well cared for. I will definitely go back during my downtime for more Fairhope goodness. Not far away is the Sunset Pointe marina with a wonderful!!! seafood restaurant complete with outdoor dining and working fire pits, where you can watch the sailboats go in and out all day and enjoy sunset in...
Read moreThe pier and the beach are central to Fairhope and a popular place for locals to gather. You will see the most gorgeous sunsets from there, along with pelicans, herons, egrets, and more. If you're luck, you may also see the occasional dolphin. The beach is now handicapped accessible and has a wheelchair mat. Swimming in the water is a point of disagreement among many who live here. On some evenings, musicians play for free along the pier. Definitely a must to experience if you are in Fairhope! The only reason it is not 5 stars is because of the playground equipment and the frequently disgusting water conditions. Be sure to throw a penny in the fountain for good luck...
