Review of Fanwood Day Spa – Very Disappointing Experience
My experience at Fanwood Day Spa today was incredibly frustrating and disappointing.
When I arrived, Yeqing—the woman at the front desk—asked what service I was there for. I told her I had booked a lymphatic massage. She immediately asked, “Didn’t you already get your eyebrows done at Jennifer Day Salon back in May?” I said yes, and she then told me that you’re only allowed to purchase one service through Groupon.
I was shocked—nowhere in the Groupon listing does it state that. I told her that, and said, “You know what, I no longer want the service,” and walked to my car. To my surprise, she followed me outside, apologized, and said she didn’t want to upset me. She asked me to come back in and tried to explain that they don’t make any money from Groupon. Honestly, who wants to hear that as a paying customer? If the business doesn’t profit from Groupon, they should clearly state their terms in the fine print—or not use Groupon at all.
In fact, the Groupon deal even mentions that customers can purchase another service at a later time, which made her comments even more confusing. She also told me the regular cost of the service is $280—but that was irrelevant to the issue. If customers are truly limited to one Groupon, that needs to be made crystal clear before purchase. Otherwise, it feels like they’re making up rules on the spot.
To make matters worse, as I was leaving, I overheard another customer being told something completely different about her Groupon, which only confirmed the lack of professionalism and consistency.
Bottom line: If this business chooses to advertise through Groupon, they need to honor the terms they promote and stop pressuring or confusing customers with shifting policies. I will be contacting Groupon to report this, as I don’t want other customers to go through what I experienced today. If I could give this merchant zero stars, I would. I absolutely do not recommend this business.

Read moreThe worst day spa I went to for a long time. I asked for a relaxing massage, soon as I arrived. They knew I booked a hour and a half massage. They were trying to upsell me right away for two hour massage with reflexology because I asked if I can add reflexology after the massage. I am a kind of person that I give everybody a chance so I went ahead and upgraded my massage instead of paying 176. I end up paying $260. At first, I felt good and comfortable, after a while I start feeling very uncomfortable with the pressure so I addressed Linda to reduce the pressure. She was just keep saying that it’s my lymph notes and she needs to massage it. Ask again to release the pressure that I’m in too much pain. When she turned me over, she proceeded to massage my breast without asking if she could. Breast was very tender and I was like oh this hurts. She replied you never had a done. I felt very uncomfortable. I was caught off guard. I had no idea what to do next. She end up doing my feet before ending the massage I was in a lot of pain and I finally stopped her and said this is too painful. You need to slow down and work yourself into it. Unfortunately, communication is not very good, but they keep trying to upsell you. Before leaving, I was genuine and I left Linda tip, this is just what kind of person I am. I am in a service business, and I felt bad leaving and not tipping When I was paying, she was already trying to sale me a facial, she handed me the envelope to asking for tip. And I finally told her number one , you do not communicate very well number two you have to communicate with the client that you’re going to touch there breast number three do not ask me for my tip with your envelope because I left it already on your bed.very unprofessional unprofessional behavior and no communication whatsoever. I will...
Read moreI'm writing to share an experience I had with Fanwood Day Spa, as I encountered some confusion regarding their Groupon advertisements and policies.
I recently purchased two services through Groupon for a Swedish and a Lymphatic Massage. However, when I attempted to use one of the Groupons for a Swedish massage, both the manager and a front desk employee informed me that I could not use it. They stated that Groupons are only for new customers, despite the fine print on the Groupon itself stating that each customer is limited to using one Groupon at a time.
This isn't my first perplexing encounter with Fanwood Day Spa. When they first opened, I visited and was not pleased with their practice of upselling services during the massage itself. I gave them another chance in January, and they attempted to sell me a package for $550, which I declined.
As a local business in Fanwood, I wanted to support them, and the Groupon seemed like a good opportunity to give them a 2nd chance. However, I believe it's important for potential customers to be aware of these policies and practices before visiting, especially regarding their Groupon usage and their tendency to upsell...
