Food trucks are located near the highway, and are a bit ways away by walking (but the drive is the same way you get in.)
The lake is stocked regularly and is a good place for fishing, though the best places are the (old, crumbling) piers located down the trails on the far side of the dam, near the tributaries. If you're looking to use your hands, you can have some luck with fish going over the dam into the small pools under the bicycle bridge. Theres many trails located in this area, that wind around all the way to locamotion and the adjacent razorback trail.
The attached parks is in 2 sides, one on each side of the bicycle bridge, stretching around about half the lake on both sides and the botanical garden is located on a the crossover road side of the entire trail network.
All in all, its a great hike with alot of different views, and a bicycle ride through the entire lake takes only a couple of hours. Very common to see small fauna like rabbits, snakes and birds. Occasionally you will see a fox or a deer on the more less trodden side of the park near crossover road, as they've snuck into the park from the woods...
Read moreI came to pay disc golf from Ft. Smith and I have to say it's a very nice course although a bit tough to navigate if you can't memorize the course layout on the map at hole one. There's a marker at each tee box but several times I walked up to a tee pad that was a different hole. And honestly it would be nice if each hole marker had a hole layout because again, memorizing each hole at hole one is difficult, and that makes making decisions about how to play each hole more difficult. The course itself was well maintained however and still enjoyable.
Update: Moved to the area and after playing at the course regularly I find it's a great course with done challenging aspects. The only downsides are it's shared public space so be prepared to encounter people not paying attention or lounging on the course and when it's been raining almost half of the homes become unplayable unless you have waterproof shoes and Sadie willing to wade through water and mud to navigate the holes to...
