Outback Steakhouse — Restaurant in Springdale

We went with extended family for Father's Day. We waited an hour for a table and then an additional 45 minutes after ordering our food for any of it to start coming out.

During this time, our drinks were brought out, but most were the wrong order. Several of us ordered unsweet tea with lemon, and we received sweet tea and no lemon.

Those who ordered sweet tea couldn't taste the sweet at all, and most of our glasses had little to no ice in them.

When asking for more ice, they brought out "one" glass full for the table of eight to share amongst our eight individual drinks.

We ordered a blooming onion as a aperizer which came out promptly but the rest of our party too had ordered apitizers which came out approximately ten minutes later and they had to continue to request additional sauces because they werent brought out with the appetizers.

We had to ask for bread several times before one small plate was brought out with two loaves of bread which were only given to one side of our table. One person of our party ordered a salad as a side, and when it arrived, it was quite literally a 1/4 of a head of iceburg lettuce that was covered in a white dressing. It was virtually inedible as it was without completely cutting and shredding it to pieces.

When our food came out, it was only half of our parties food. It was another several minutes before the rest of our parties food finally came out. Several plates were brought out to our table, but it wasn't anything our party had ordered and had to be sent back. The rest of us awkwardly waited for the rest of our party before eating so as to share a meal together.

My husband ordered a Melbourne Porterhouse, which was the most expensive steak on the menu. He ordered it raw, and when it finally came out, it was overcooked, nearly burnt in places, and while the waitress did comment, it was cooked wrong she brought it to him anyway.

Given that it was Father's Day, we expected some delay and long waits because it would be busy. However it wasn't very busy there at all. In the area we were seated, there wasn't anyone else, and I believe we sat close to the kitchen. Despite all of that , our wait and service were terrible.

During our visit, our server stayed at or near the bar with several other waitstaff and visited. Even the manager was visiting with the other staff, and never once did they pay any attention to our table despite all of the mishaps.

Truth be told, we are not from this area. We have frequented the Outback steakhouse near our residence and have never been treated so poorly nor had an experience like that. I'd like to think this is an isolated incident, but given the general mood that was radiating throughout the staff, I kind of got the impression this is just typical for that staff whom was working that shift.

I will say we watched the bus boys work during our long wait, and they were impressive. They moved faster than any other employee we saw. My only compliment I can honestly give was to them and there work ethic which hopefully will be praised by the manager should they dismiss themselves from the party they and there waitstaff were having at the bar while ignoring the paying patrons.

Maybe the general manager should check into that. I can't imagine that's the atmosphere they wish to promote on Father's Day. Definitely wasn't...

This location is a decent spot for dinner. They have a big dining room and indoor and outdoor seating along with a bar. Tuesdays and Wednesdays, they have good meal deals. They have happy hour but last time we went they were completely out of the beer they were promoting on draft. I ordered the margarita sampler and although it was a cool idea to serve it in a boomerang there were no labels to know what you were drinking and it had obviously been sitting at the bar for a while and all 4 samples had a lot of ice and were super watered down. I wouldn't order again. The food, though, is always good here. I especially like their steaks and chopped salad. The blooming onion is a favorite for an appetizer. Service is unpredictable. Sometimes, we have an attentive server and other times we have one that forgets about us and never brings bread or refills. They seem to have a system where the servers now work with a runner/busser who assists them. This was the case last night where our server would put in our requests on a tablet and it would be delivered by a runner. When we never received bread (about 30 minutes after being sat) and finally had the server return to check on us, she blamed the runner. "OH, they never brought it. Sorry they did that", instead of checking on us herself. Just like how we never got silverware or app plates from her too. Not a fan of this system and the servers that slack b/c of it. We are tipping the server but I feel like we only saw her to take our order and deliver our check. Overall, food is good, service is ok but...

The Atmosphere (it being Valentines Night) was Great! The service & wait staff were wonderful, however all that was ruined by the presentation, texture, & taste, as well as the dismissive attitude of the manager 😞 I ordered the steak & coconut shrimp, while my husband ordered the steak & shrimp pasta. Appetizer was great, & the drinks. The entree’s appeared to look Great & tasty when they arrived, however I have NEVER ordered a medium rare steak that came out completely dry with no juice or tenderness whatsoever to it! Even dipping it in the A-1 sauce didn’t help. After the 2nd bite I tried cutting up the entire steak & the entire thing was like that. Only ate the 2 bites. Whole plate was dry under the steak. Only meat edible were the shrimp. My husband didn’t care for his meal either but after seeing how manager treated me he just left 2/3’s of it on his plate. Trust when I say management, & the cooks could use some work. Manager just kept insisting he could throw another steak on the grill and fix right. I told him no the night was dinner was already ruined. He just kept insisting & while husband went to restroom he returned with a small piece of steak on plate, which I put back on edge of table & requested check & small box for rest of blooming onion for hubby. He couldn’t eat his dry meat & pasta either stating no matter how much salt & pepper he put on it it, still tasted bland.
