We went during happy hour and the beers we tried—Hibiscus Kolsch, Traditional Saison, and West Coast IPA—were all surprisingly well-balanced and delicious!
We were seated almost immediately, but after that service was painfully slow. Took over 15 minutes for a server to come greet us, despite us reading through the whole menu and then making eye contact with 4-5 different staff members who passed by without acknowledgment. Once someone did come over to take our order, it took almost 10 minutes for our beers to make it to the table (we watched the bartender pour them, but there didn’t seem to be enough staff running drinks to tables because there was a stack of drinks just waiting ready at the bar). We finished most of our beer before our appetizers even arrived and decided it probably wasn’t worth the wait to get a second round of drinks. The pretzel was a somewhat small for the price ($6), though tasted freshly made. The 3 large meatballs ($15) were flavorful and came with toasted French bread pieces to soak up the extra mozzarella and marinara!
Happy hour is 4-6pm with $2 off draft beers (normally $6-8). There was no signage indicating this special and we had to ask the server directly if there was a happy hour for him to tell us the deal. Not sure if they have food specials.
So if you have time to leisurely wait, it was good beer and the...
Read moreThis is the third time we've eaten at Flyway. Seems like they have reached that point in a new/restarted restaurant where they are coasting, and not trying as hard to get everything right. (Maybe focusing on reducing input costs?) We ordered a fry basket with our entrees and my wife said, "Don't worry about bringing all the food together. Bring the fries out when they're hot.". Two minutes later, we had a basket of fries on the table - and they were luke warm. The waitress came back about 10 minutes later with our sandwiches, which was the first time we had a chance to ask for hot fries. The waitress was friendly about it, and one minute later, we had piping hot fries on the table. (So, they don't make fries to order, and we got lucky the second time.) The burger and Reuben were both very good, but I had to go to the bar for drink refills and we never saw the waitress again until I had to chase her down to pay the check. We will try them again, but they don't get to deliver this kind of service more than once if they want...
Read moreStopped in while visiting the area. One of those places where their beer list is only available via QR code. I struggled with that for a while, had to finagle the file to be able to read it and later discovered that I missed an entire page of brews. I would have gotten a flight, but couldn't find enough beers I wanted to try on that first page. Please just provide printed copies of your beer list. You will not kill the earth by doing so and you will sell more of your product! The food was unique and drew us in. However, it was just a bit lacking. The venison sliders were tough, thin and not seasoned enough. The pulled pork on the salad was served right from the fridge, so the fat on the pork was congealed and the pork was hard. Needs to be served warm like a salad with a piece of fish, etc. The spring mix in the salad was wilted and starting to brown and get slimy. That was disappointing. The pretzel was good. The service was really lovely. However, there are so many breweries in the area, I am not sure that we would...
