First, I was impressed because FRP was implementing a stringent attendance policy ( which was clearly explained during the ticket purchase process). Not only was vaccine proof & masks required, but they checked IDs against those vaccine cards to ensure compliance. Therefore, I felt perfectly safe sitting next to strangers. Second, the Christmas Show performance was brilliantly done, from timing, set design and to the fact that the focus was on the voices and dancing rather than garish costumes. Great way to let this awesome troupe shine! And boy did they! The Soprano had the voice of an angel, the narrator was entertaining and did a marvelous rendition of The Grinch. The chorus and dance troupe kept perfectly timed and swept you right up into the "feelings."(damn allergies!🤣) Third, we enjoyed our first attendance so much that we cannot wait for future performances and are likely to at least become season ticket members and even perhaps become patrons down the road. Thank You Flat Rock Playhouse for a wonderful start to Christmas and for brilliantly bringing to our...
Read moreWe took our 2 grandchildren to see Annie on Thursday for the 2 PM performance. From what we could see, the production was wonderful. I phrase it that way because our tickets were on the back row , and we had very limited visibility seeing the stage. About midway of the first act, I moved to the elevated bench behind me. From there the view was wonderful. I could see everything. At intermission, one of your staff members approached me and said I had to move back to my seat. She said it was reserved for staff. No one was sitting on the bench, however, I moved back to my seat and stretched my neck around the tall lady in front of me until the play was over. The bench remained empty the entire time. One of the volunteers told me the lady was the "boss lady". I will never return to Flat Rock Theater unless I have tickets up front. It is a shame to pay for tickets when you cannot see the stage. Your "boss lady" is more concerned about her bench staying empty than patrons...
Read moreIn all my visits to the Flat Rock Playhouse, I never knew there was a garden. I had seen the flowers around the house before, but if you keep going, there is a large area to walk around to get away from it all. There are some sculptures among the plants and flowers. I liked the goats. Make sure to check it out before a show.
I am more amazed each time I come how well thought out the Flat Rock Playhouse is to getting everyone situated with parking, to making sure everyone gets to the correct seat. There isn't much space for parking, so they pack the cars in tight. This is a problem if you need or want to leave early, as you are stuck. But they make do with the space they have.
The quality of the shows is outstanding as they get fantastic actors and have great costumes, sets, and music. This year I saw the Michael Jackson show, Beautiful, and Murder on the Orient Express. I'd have season tickets if I lived closer.
I am wondering what shows will be playing for the...
