Racist establishment, beware! Terrible service. Drove up from Greenville, SC to enjoy the fall foliage and planned to stop and eat pizza with our two small children before heading home. I waited in the car with the kids for my African American husband to go in and check the seating and wait time situation since it was windy and too cold for the kids outside. He came back to the car saying a table just opened up and the pizza would only take about 20 minutes. He placed our order and we sat down with the number they asked us to put on our table for our order. We were the only non-white people the entire time we were there. We kept our little kids happy as best we could by walking around and taking turns to show them the store that is connected. We saw a huge spider cricket crawling across the floor under our table and moved our baby out of her carseat on the floor, gross! I get that we're in the mountains but they should have pest control and traps. I headed back to the table 45 minutes later with our 2 year old in hopes that food was on the table. We even said to each other wow we both thought the food was going to be ready by now. Everyone around us (much larger groups of 6+ adults etc) had already received and eaten their food. We were now alone sitting there waiting. No one ever came to check on us or anything. Finally an hour later a guy came over and I guess ignored the number still sitting on our table and asked if we were still waiting for something. We told him yes, a bbq chicken pizza. He just looked at us and walked away. Then a few minutes later a lady comes over and tells us that they have the ticket and the food was paid for (obviously we know that) and they are going to have to make our pizza "on the fly". She then says, she's going to have to ask us to leave and eat outside but didn't even say it was because they should be closing soon or anything. And I'm sorry but if you messed up and made us wait over an hour, wouldn't you offer for us to not rush and eat inside while they close up and wait the maybe 10 extra minutes so we don't have to go outside? The lady came by to lock up the store door for the day that was near our table. Finally the guy comes back and hands us the pizza and didn't apologize or anything. They did not offer us a refund, a discount, new sealed beer to take home with us, nothing. We took our kids and drove straight home because we never anticipated being that long to not even get to eat. Do better. So...

Read moreI REALLY wanted to completely adore this place. Here are the pros: very cute-without-being-cheesy, old-world-style, small, quaint bakery look and feel, great outdoor seating with old southern magnolias growing through the deck. Cozy plants growing everywhere, akebia & Virginia creeper vines twining around the railings, cute planter boxes in the parking area. I’m going to go there again and try out some different menu items… BUT,
Cons: I had the wild mushroom pizza. The mushrooms themselves were a good flavor, but it was so greasy I had to take 8 napkins just to soak up the grease for it to be appetizing. It was just cheese and mushrooms :/… honestly I expected at least some other kind of vegetable on there… I’m not 5 years old. Not only that, but it was so completely soggy in the middle of the pizza (not just from grease, but from not cooking properly & ingredients that sweated onto the thin crust), that I literally couldn’t pick it up… (even though slices were small enough) and all the toppings just slid off :/. I also had the raspberry oat bar… sorry to say it tasted like 75% pure sugar with some raspberry jelly and oats thrown in… no real flavor, just way too sweet.
My date had the ham & cheese sandwich on sourdough and said it was good, but nothing to write home about. For the price, I would have liked better quality/prepared food, but I enjoyed the ambience. We took a boule home, looking forward to that… fingers crossed! Maybe I should just get the coffee & bread from now on. Also saw what looked like a 16 year old in the kitchen, so maybe there was some training going on that day. Willing to give it...
