What a disappointment. Cute place amongst some cute shops. Biggest part of the problem is the layout. I'm guessing the owner has never stood in line and/or observed the turmoil. The baked goods are displayed adjacent to the cash registers. The line forms in front of the baked goods so you don't know if someone is waiting to order or selecting items. The cashiers are screaming to the customers and the person pulling the bakery items, who is screaming back. The customers are screeching their orders to the cashiers - you can also order kitchen items from the menu board. The lowest shelf in the bakery display is below knee level, difficult to read while people in the line are shoving from behind. And, that is the other part of the problem. Some, not all, of the regulars from the area have no manners. Before ordering, they are screaming, not talking, to one another. After ordering, some move to the tables and some stand near the cashier, others back in front of the bakery display. Rearranging the coffee area, the bakery display and the cashiers, as well as blocking access after payment would create a pleasant experience rather than this day at the zoo. It may also improve the bottom line as we were considering ordering some take out items but I had enough of the circus atmosphere. All that aside, The food was good and the employees very friendly. Their stress levels must be sky high at the end of the day. I would not...
Read morePretty much the old white general store promised in Historic Flat Rock, my family and I stopped in for a bit after dropping our daughter off at a local camp. A bit touristy, but the place had an interesting local flavor with original folk art, fun gifts and games, antique treasures, fashion accessories and more. The Wrinkled Egg is best known for camp "care packages" offering an assortment to choose from.
Trivia note on the unusual name, The Wrinkled Egg was named for an old red hen that used to roam the owners back yard. Decent service and pleasant staff. Clean store. Parking is hard to find as the store is busy and does share a common lot with other attached businesses.

Read moreTook a trip to Asheville and took a recommendation from Pinterest. The Wrinkled Egg in Flat Rock made for a nice leisurely lunch and a little shopping. The eatery/ bakery is quite small but packs a wallop. Found in the back of The Wrinkled Egg boutique you’ll mosey up to the counter and place your order. Browse the baked good and check out the days special. After ordering find your way out to the outdoor only seating area and enjoy the fresh mountain air while sipping your favorite beverage. The tuna salad was delicious and the pickled onions on it just made it pop. The avocado BLT was amazing. Two thumbs up on the oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies!
Enjoy shopping the...
