YUCK! Roused Reviews Before This One! ~ There is a smoker in front that is billowing out to draw attention to the cute campfire icon and restaurant. It’s just for looks. The illusion is a facade that carries through the rest of the place. As much as the servers try to upplay the food with their peppy service—it doesn’t translate. Others may be fooled but not people that know what flavorful and imaginative food is supposed to be. The entree was sent back twice. The pasta was too small a portion for the price and had next to no sauce. A piece of bread on the side of the plate could have been a brick for all anyone knows. The meatloaf was old and a tiny slice smashed into the grill burning out any flavor. Mac & Cheeseless would have been better out of the box. The troutdip was flavorless. Ever heard of salt??? Don’t be scared. You don’t have to load it down but you have to use it to enhance food. It isn’t cool to choose not to use it. The menu prices are outrageous for the quality and portion. It’s very sad to think someone is investing time and pretty illusion into a restaurant only to fall flat in Flat Rock on the most important thing—the food. The waitstaff can be heard near the porch referring to tables of people in rude ways. “The Pterodactyl table.” “The gay couple out front.” “Penny Pinchers.” ???? And just a thought on the last one… somewhere like this you had better pinch. Small Salads were told to be $4 each with your entree then an additional $7 was slipped onto the bill. Last but not least the cokes are dead. R.I.P. Choose a different restaurant. Give your money to somewhere else that is struggling...
Read moreWow, I saw this place in Our State Magazine, so I thought to check it out. Also, good ratings on Google... Well... 6pm on a Thursday, busy but no wait, we chose to sit outside as it was so loud our exchange with the hostes required raised voices...Order taken promptly... A mixed veggie plate arrived in 30 minutes. Absolutely amazing, perfect roasted peppers, carrots, squash, egg plant, mushroom, and arugula salad with an amazing goat cheese spread and balsamic dressing on the side. 5 stars. On the other hand... The smashed meat ball sandwich was sub-par. Meat balls were not smashed, as say in a smash burger, just egg-shaped. Smashed on the grill would have really brought out some texture and flavor. As it was, they were just bland meatballs that were left to sit in a pot of sauce since inception. The roll started out great, served open, so one side was still good, a nice fresh bakery roll, grilled perfectly. Unfortunately, the other half under everything was a sopping sponge. Even a slice of cheese, which was placed atop the bun, didn't protect it. I have to give a nod to the cook, being knowledgeable enough to know this trick, but in this case, the sandwhich had too much sauce and sat too long. The sauce was unremarkable, and even scrapping off half of it still overpowered the meat balls. So much potential...alas so much...

We started with the burnt end lettuce wraps. WOW!! Amazing flavor, perfectly seasoned and sauced.
I had the wood fired half chicken. This entree came with mashed potatoes (some of the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten) and mixed veggies (green beans, brussel sprouts and carrots). The chicken was moist and seasoned perfectly. The veggies were delicious.
My wife had the counselor burger with fries. YUM!! Try their homemade honey mustard sauce with the fries!!
My wife ended with the coffee cheese cake, I hate coffee, so I wouldn't try it, my wife enjoyed it. I had the key lime pie, OMG!!! I've had key lime pie in the keys, this was the best key lime I've ever eaten.
Bottom line, Campfire Grill has created an amazing menu, everything is seasoned and sauced to perfection. They have specials every night that I will definitely go back and try.
Staff was amazing, our server Nickie was very informative with the menu, very observant of our needs, and very friendly.
