Worst customer service experience I've had in some time. Rude and lazy by my standards.
Long story short, the guys on the beach were not very helpful with anything really. My cousin Olivia is 15 and she is about 5' tall and weights less than 100 lbs and not one of the guys assisted her with getting the paddle board in the water or getting her setup. There were three guys available to help at that time. I would have done this but I was getting a refund for the wave runner I rented because of miscommunication between Yolo and myself (not that big a deal). They didn't grab our life vest instead took the lazy approach and just pointed us to the area where the life jackets were and told all of us to grab one. This isn't what bothered me at all.
What really got under my skin is what happened when I returned the paddle boards to their location. My other cousin, Joseph and I returned the two paddle boards where one guy came to help my cousin with his board, I pulled mine onto the beach. The guy informed me that I had to sign one more time to close out the rental process. I walk to a second guy who had my paperwork ready and he said go ahead and leave a tip and total out the receipt and sign. Then he corrected himself and said to just total out the receipt which implies, leave a tip. I started thinking, what customer service did these guys do that was worthy of a tip? I could not for the life of me justify leaving these guys tips with the little help that was provided. I put a straight line through the tip section put the total and signed the receipt. I handed it back to the guy on the beach and he looked at it and immediately said "WOW", indicating that he couldn't believe that I didn't leave a tip. I asked him what he and the guys on the beach did to deserve a tip and he said I guess nothing, to which I replied, that is correct. As I start to walk away, he says to me that I was no longer welcome to rent anything from them. I replied back saying this is your customer service? Good luck! and walked away.
This still pisses me off that the guy feels entitled to my money for sitting on his ass and not doing a damned thing. This is a problem and a mindset that I will not contribute to. You work for peoples tips, meaning you have to earn it. Nothing was earned because you refused to go the extra mile to help therefore you get nothing in return. This is how business works where I come from. I run an insurance business in Houston and our business is 100% built on customer service. This is how our business has grown so much organically.
I hope moving forward this individual will learn this very elementary concept and apply it moving forward or I'm afraid he'll be renting paddle boards on the beach for a long time coming. We stayed on the island for two more days and I wanted to eventually rent a wave runner and do the jet pack board (whatever it is called) but after saying I wasn't welcomed I took my money elsewhere. I also informed my family about this and they also took their...
Read moreWe booked a wave runner excursion this week and don't want to see others make the same mistake we did. We were a family of 6 riders on 3 wave runners. We own that same version of Yamaha wave runner at our cabin and were experienced in using them. For us the experience was not as enjoyable as indicated on the website... reasonable ride looking for ocean life (e.g. dolphins) and enjoying the ocean. Instead It was a fast and hard ride out to Caso Cayo (roughly 10 miles) with a 10 minute stop over and then an even harder ride back against the wind as fast as we could go in the chop in order to get the machines back in time for their next reservation. It wasn't fun at all, the rest of my group is still making jokes about it being basically a salt water water board adventure. I don't blame YOLO for the weather but the staff should have done a couple of things that would given us a fightin change to make it a good experience. For instance, they should have suggested or given us the heads to consider to go only 1 per machine in those conditions. Having only 1 rider, you can stand on the machine and have a better chance to cover that far of a distance in those conditions at the speed needed to fit their window. We didn't start as 1 per machine thinking the trip was more excursion than sprint. Or another option would have been to have a plan B for weather and not go as far, maybe go part way given the conditions and show us something else, maybe on the other side of Captiva or North Captiva. I think if you are looking for a hard 20 mile wave runner sprint with no time to be looking for anything but following the leader's machine off in distance then this excursion is just that. The excursion leader was friendly, however, and under different circumstances would have been...
Read moreThis place was the worst rentl expirence I have ever had in my life, I went in there to rent jet skis and the lady at the desk helping us out was so rude and acted like we meant nothing and didn’t want us there, given I already had my boating license my two friends didn’t, so they wanted to take there course and we were all being very nice and they were completely rude and treated us horribly, my one friend after had to park a little bad because they had golf carts every where and the one lady came out and said learn how the f* to park. Who says that to a paying customer that has been nothing to nice to them just for parking how she had to because they had golf carts everywhere, they didn’t ask anyone if they need help it was the worst place ever and I will never go back there and would recommend anyone to go anywhere else because it was such a ridiculous experience and I under stand people have bad days but every single person was rude and should not of acted like that...
